Ouch about the knockoffs. I’ll cut the OP some rope since it was a trade item.
I agree, buying a scope that could be mass produced by China clones, especially a Leupold, on eBay. Is urber risky.
As for the Mark5. I’d like to own one.

Oh....sorry ....."Kinda"....OP.
Skipped over the traded for it part. My bad. But,.if trading you need good pics and if you have any experience whatsoever, you would have spotted fake assed Leupy in a picture.
Hopefully you learned a lesson here.

I have “cured” a couple of lower tier Leupolds of adjustment vagary by running the knobs end to end a couple of times as I saw recommended in an John Haviland article. Still, my Burris, Trijicon, SWFA, etc etc haven’t needed that treatment.
I ran into that issue the other day, but with a Sig Romeo5 of all things. Adjust, nothing, adjust, big jump, adjust back, ta dum ta dum ta dum. Have another on the way, so we shall see if that’s typical or a fluke.
What fresh Hell is this?

Really, to be honest, the new Leupolds look like schidt anyway. So I can see it happening. The VX3I models look like china tool over in the design department over the VX3 models they were replacing. The old Leupolds are great looking scopes though.
I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA

All of them do something better than the 30-06, but none of them do everything as well.

Get a Burris E1 or Fullfield II. The FF won’t be a lot more than a bootleg Leupold (less if you include the heartache).

I have had excellent service from my Leupolds. Burris are being replaced. Poor service if any and poor quality scopes too often.

Sold one with the issues and buyer knew about that one. The other still needs to go back or go down the road with the issue known to buyer. Those FFII are a $100 scope at best.
