Went to the Smith & Wesson website just to look around. They're bringing back some of their older blued revolver models, branded as "classics". Fair enough, the Model 29 and 36, etc. are classics in most people's eyes. Then I looked at the suggested retail price. $1114.00 for a brand new Model 29!!! Back in the autumn of 1989 I got a hankering to own a Model 29 with an 8 3/8 inch barrel. I think I paid $400.00. Thank goodness I still own the gun; I could never afford to buy one today. (Well, I could, but I wouldn't, if you know what I mean.) Guess I'm getting old. All these guns were priced approximately 3 times what they would have cost in 1989. We've had some inflation since then, but... oh well.

Gas was ~79cents in 1996 here.

Look at any gun maker's website, and you'll likely choke.

MSRP is a far shot from what you'll find one selling for at your local shop.

I'd be more interested in what they are ACTUALLY selling for...

A very quick check of Gunsamerica just showed some new for $840, meaning you can probably pick one up for less (prices there tend to be on the high end of asking prices usually).
