They don't have the duty to protect you which means you aren't entitled to a body guard, not that they won't try to protect you ever.
I think that it is important to note that they do not have a "legal" duty to protect you, and I understand how that came to pass. I think every cop out there will tell you that they have a moral duty to protect citizens, and it's certainly a job duty.
Cops have a very high rate of alcohol abuse and domestic abuse of loved ones, when compared to the general population of similar demographics.
This is very true. My wife and I just ate Sunday dinner at a local restaurant where the grand daughter of one of the best friends (now deceased) I ever had works. She does well to weigh 110 pounds. She related to us how she broke up with her possessive and abusive deputy sheriff boyfriend who easily outweighs her well over 100 pounds. He broke in her house and gave her a serious beating for which he was arrested and jailed on felony and misdemeanor charges. He bonded out was fired and now is scheduled for court. I say she is in serious danger.
Patriotism (and religion) is the last refuge of a scoundrel.

Yep. That’s obvious. I’m mean look at all those cops that died facing antifart and bowel movements matter. Protecting citizens and their property; that’s what they’re there for.
Colossians 3:17 (New King James Version) "And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him."
Update on this: DAs office dismissed all charges against the man in the trailer today. I don’t want to call him a suspect because he isn’t. SNI is still investigating the incident.
