Just curious how many people have life insurance? I had life insurance when I carried debt. My thinking was if something happened to me my wife and kids wouldn't be strapped or loose what they had.

I don't have a big policy on myself, but it's enough to toast me and pay off all my debts, plus a bit extra.

Wife and I bought 30 year term when we started having kids. Don’t really need it now, but it’ll expire in a few years. I’ll continue to pay the premiums til then. It’s very inexpensive.

I have a policy offered through my employer for 8x my annual income. It’s cheap and doesn’t require any health questions or a physical.

Listening to a life insurance salesman start his sales job is like listening to a non synchronous transmission shifting.

One of them took a blood draw from me.

Nope, have none.
Had company provided when I was employed.
Retired and don’t need it.

Had some key-man term life insurance from company that I've transfered to myself now. When the 10 year term runs out, I won't re-up.

I am single with no kids and everything I own is paid off so there was no sense for me to have any.

None on either of us. Saved a small fortune over the years doing without.

Term life until I'm 60. Don't need it after that. Pretty much won't need it in one year when the house is paid off.

We also have some variable universal thing, but that's for tax reasons, it's a crappy "investment" but my wife's a CPA and apparently there's a reason we'll need it as we bridge from retirement until collecting SS or something.

Had a different policy when working and we had a debt load. Wife is written out of my pension now which enhances our present income by about 35%. The difference is more than enough to fund a 1/2 mill policy if/when I buy the farm. That and other savings should see her through.

If you have debt and/or family obligations you should have some. I have bought several vehicles with mine.

One of my old coaches did the same thing, except he didn't buy insurance. Retired and died within a year leaving his wife destitute. Nice lady. Sad situation.
