In rural areas - it's okay. Occasional kick down to lows.

In semi urban - no. Too much flicking back and forth.

I’m still trying to decide. I’m 95% Uralic driving, and it seems to work somewhat.

What I’m curious about are the new head lights that project the high beams everywhere EXCEPT oncoming traffic by selectively disabling the LED’s that illuminate that section of road. If the OEM’s don’t fugitive it up, that might be useful.

My wife’s vehicle has it and I love it. The bad is when I get back into my old truck and bright light everyone waiting for them to dim.

My new truck has them. OK so far. Remember when GM had the feature in the 50's?

I hate them with a passion. When they're behind you a bit on rural roads they keep changing in your rear view. Drives me nuts.

My F150 and my wife's Camry both have the auto-dim feature and we both have it turned off. I prefer to control it myself. Her car is a 2023 with LED headlights, while my 2020 truck does not have them. She complains that she now hates driving non-LED vehicles, as they don't compare. Guess I may upgrade at some point soon.

It’s the opposite for me, my Toyota FourRunner has it , my wife’s Chrysler doesn’t. I don’t have a problem with it.

I’ve had them on the last few trucks I’ve bought and wifeys car has them. We really like them in rural areas, cant speak for the cities. Occasionally a yard light or something will trip them so they are not perfect but work well for us. I put them up there with with a few other things i wouldn’t be without. Heated steering wheel, heated/cooled seats and rain sensing wipers.

I used a Toyota Corolla as a rental in 2021. It had all sorts of nanny features, which drove me nuts. The lane monitoring nanny would push me towards the oncoming lane, and would get scared by tar patches that were parallel to the direction of travel. Luckily that feature was defeatable.

I never found out how to turn off the auto-dim though. And it annoyed the crap out of me by dimming way to soon. In one instance, dimming while the oncoming traffic was 30 seconds away. At a combined closing speed of 110 mph/161 fps, it had dimmed while the semi coming from the other direction was a mile and a half away...

Seems like a good way to get shot. Do car makers creat chit intentionally to incite rage?

Got called out to a house fire last week and I was driving one of the engines. Another volunteer has a Jeep with the auto dimming lights and he was behind me. As we were responding to the fire, I noticed his lights flashing back and forth from hi-beam to low-beam. I stopped, thinking something was wrong on the engine. Turned out it was just the auto dimming lights. Only lost a few minutes, but that's not good.
