That was pretty neat. I have seen two banded cranes in my life, both in Texas. One was shot by a hunter using the outfitter I was working for. It was pre-Internet and I did not hear of an age.
The other was a crane with a neck band that was in a flock that came to the decoys. Two birds were shot to fill the limit and the neck collar was seen after the limit was filled. The shooters were pretty bummed they did not see that bird earlier.

That's pretty cool, only ever had it to eat once, buddies brought a couple back from out west.
Friend of mine came across a cormorant that was 16yo. He got a lot of questions for that one from dnr.

We take lotsa cranes here but I've never seen a banded crane.
I and friends usually take a couple hundred cranes each fall.
