So was his...
The wimmens was flyswatters, belts, wooden spoons and yardsticks and hand spankers.
The kickers were the ones that got my attention; to the point I can recall every time I got kicked, but not every time I was hit with an inanimate object...

My momma had a doctor she worked with make her a wooden paddle with holes drilled in it! When that thing met your arse cheek if felt like yellow jackets got a hold of ya!! I’ll never forget the day she broke it over my arse… as bad as it hurt I was so darn happy 😃

It wasn't administered out of love, and it wasn't reasonable correction by a caring parent. Not something I ever did with my kids either.
