I'm retired and don't want to break the bank, but I've got the itch to buy a 15x56 binocular.

Two options I've considered is the Vortex Vulture 15x56 and the Nikon M5 16x56.

I can get a look through the Vulture, but it appears the Nikon M5 is strictly mailorder.

Are either of these worth a try? Is one better than the other? Both at are in the $750-$850CAD range. I'm trying to be economical. Remember, I have to pay an exchange rate of about 1.35 for every USD.

"Reasonable" "Binoculars" and "15X" are contradictory terms, Like most things you get what you pay for, so I guess it'd depend on the purpose and application.

If you like the Vortex buy it.

Personally, I like Leupolds but that's out of your price range unless you run across a great deal.

Have you considered the Athlon Cronus G2 15x56 UHD Binocular?

Another option that might fit your budget: Bushnell Forge.

I've looked through a pair of these and liked them a bit better than a pair of Vortex Kaibab HD's I used to have.
