Someone called my boss and told them I missed their car by two inches. I told him that's what he's paying me for.

One time at a bar, there was a dam good looking waitress us horn-dogs were fantasizing about. She came up to our table when the bar was about to close and told me " I am taking you home with me" . Now that was a real compliment!!!

In late 2018 I was standing next to my Dad at the viewing for his recently passed wife. He simply said to me, "You're a good man".
Not every man gets to hear that from his hero, but I did, and I cherish those words.

I worked with two other guys and we had a reputation for finishing paramedic interns. We took salvageable trainees and got them through. Sometimes it was mental, sometimes it was a personality clash, some times it was turds that didn't want to put in the extra effort it sometimes takes. I never heard anyone say anything negative about a paramedic we trained up. I don't know if it was a compliment but it was flattering to be picked from all the training squads out there.

I've had some real nice compliments here on the campfire. Never a harsh word or even a cross tone. Nothing but polite interactions. Such a nice group of people. Hey Mr. Passive Aggressive found his way back!! HOWDY STRANGER! Yep, he is a "nothing" of value proposition, who proved, once again, that he is lower than lizard balls !

I have gotten several private messages saying:
“Why can’t BuzzH and Fireball be more like you?”

My dying dad a couple days before he passed on said “you done good”.
Might have been the morphine. 🤔

Back about half way through my working career I was "given" a position that basically was more or less and audit/control type function - which if I was doing my job, unfortunately meant that I ended up saying 'no' a lot more than 'yes' - after about a year in the job, my name came up in an meeting of the executive staff (group managers, VP's etc.) and a manager said, "I've about had it with PMH - he's a GD son-of-a-bitch." To which my boss's boss replied, "Yeah, but he's OUR son-of-a-bitch." I always felt that was the best thing anyone ever said about me

I once worked for a guy for seven years who was not big on compliments and could be hard on his employees although he and I got along okay. Then I went to work for another company and retired after 29 years. At my retirement party this guy shows up and tells those attending that while I worked for him it didn’t matter if things were going well or badly, there was not one time where having me involved didn’t make the situation better.
That coming from him was a real surprise and just floored me.
