Years ago, at the local archery shop, I spoke with the Bear Archery sales rep., who said he taught the cast members how to shoot a bow.

He didn't have anything nice to say about Burt Reynolds, but said Jon Voight was a regular down-to-earth guy who remained an archery enthusiast long after the movie was filmed.

I watched it last night. I saw the film the first time it ever was shown, at the Atlanta Film Festival at the Memorial Arts Center on Peachtree Rd in 1972.
Jimmy Carter was Governor and he was not happy. He thought the film was an unfavorable portrayal of the north Georgia population.

Grew up in N. Ga not far from where the movie was filmed. Did a lot of trout fishing in nearby streams. The movie came out when I was in high school. I remember locals had a lot of nice things to say about John Voight. He came back for years to fish with people he got to know in Clayton, Ga. while filming. I remember scaring the hell out of a friend of mine when we went camping in the mountains near Helen, Ga. on fishing trips. Late at night when we were sitting around the campfire I would stand up and say "did ya'll hear that banjo music"? My friend would freak out and not sleep a wink that night. I feel bad about doing that now but it was funny at the time.

Well we're Green and we're Gold, and we play better when it's cold. All us Cheese heads have our favorite superstar. We love Brett Favre.

And I hope it keeps working like that too.
