I have a pallet of quick Crete which will make about 56 square feet of 4” thick slab. What dimensions would you make it? Not sure if I’ll be building a walk in cooler on it and putting the skinning pole nest to it Or just using as a base for just a skinning shed. Just wondering, either way, what dimensions would you make something for those purposes if you only had 56 square feet of cement? Thanks for any feedback.

I'd be careful to be sure it is big enough to not step of off accidently. Twisted knees and ankles suck.
Don't cheat yourself, mock it up with lines on the ground. Consider how one might move around while skinning a deer.
Going fancy, there are a lot of ways to skin this cat. Including a winch and tie downs in the floor.
How many deer is this going to see?

If that's the route you're going then you'll need another pallet of quickcrete at least. Why not figure out what you need and then determine the best way to make it?

A sheet of plywood is 32 SF. 56 SF is 7' x 8' Plenty big for a walk in cooler. Hit the local school and college auction sites for some SS sinks and prep tables...

How many deer is this going to see? 15-20 deer per season. 2-3 per weekend

An important point I learned the very hard way>
buildings are measured outside to outside dimensions.
a 2X6 wall, for insulation, and inside another inch with wallboard or OSB or whatever, and you lose a foot length and width.
my spacious gun vault corner went from 6X6X4X 10 on the plans, to 4.5X4.5 X7 inside measurements... still fine but pay attention.

You have to figure out what size you need but I would have a section closed in for a smoke house. Smoke area wouldn't have to be very big with a firebox outside. Just saying.

Mine is 12' x 15 x 12'walls.... With a 5' x 7' x 8' walk in cooler along side.. serves well for skinning/quartering 2 deer at the same time.. wouldn't want anything smaller. Concrete floor with a grated floor drain for easy wash down.

Around here, I believe anything over 150 sq ft of roof requires a permit, and am quite certain the walk in cooler is a permit for sure! Slab would have to be local code monolithic. Your codes may not require any permit at all, bidk!

This is a project you can spend some serious money on, think twice before building it on a lease. Rio7
