Are you saying you viewed a Savage Model 6/Stevens 87? Engraved? Pics, or it doesn't exist!

Is this gun rare?, or just the fact that it is engraved?

Not rare, I have a Stevens and Savage model. They were cheap guns and I find it hard to believe, but excited to be proven wrong, that someone had one engraved.

I got one. Not engraved. Still shoot it occasionally. “Gill Gun”, “Click Clack”
Can’t say I’ve ever seen or heard of an engraved one.

He said I can take some pictures. I'll try to get up there.

You know, that's a handsome rifle IMO. Factory checkering? I doubt it, perhaps an expert on these can shed some light? Nice patterns and good execution - I wonder if the diamonds were purposely left flat or were worn down with use? Thanks for going to the trouble to get pics!

I'd say aftermarket checkering, it's not a style of factory checkering from Savage that I'm familiar with. Like Gary said tho, it's nice work.
