As I recall, they opened with "I want to hold your hand." Yellow submarine didnt come out until a few years later.

Yep, I was at my grandparents house watching the Ed Sullivan show with my grandpa. I thought there were idiots, my grandpa hated them. If that was 59 yrs ago I would have been 9.

I remember it, I was 6 years old and watched it with my grandparents, they loved Ed Sullivan. I was never a fan and got pissed at the girls across the street playing that chit nonstop for weeks on end.
Someday someone may kill you with your own gun, but they should have to beat you to death with it because it is empty.

I was 8 years old, I clearly remember watching them on our black & white TV.
Dad's only comment was he thought Ringo's shoes hurt his feet.
Like them or not, they are the band others compared to, kinda like a Nosler Partition.

Watched it with my then girlfriend, now wife, on her parent's color tv. Didn't like them then. Now?

I was just a little kid and the memory is a little foggy. I think I missed their first apperance, but I remember my dad highly disapproved of them. Anyway, the very first time I was allowed to stay home by myself I was watching the Beatles on tv. Parents came home earlier than expected and I guess I had the volume too high as I didn't hear them coming. When dad saw what I had on the tv he cuffed me upside the head for "wasting his electricity". Was a golden age of mini skirts and go-go boots!
