My brother just picked up a Mauser Forest for next to nothing. Looks like it has been shot very little. Can’t seem to find a lot of information on them. Decent? Thoughts?

Never heard the name or term conjunctively. Wonder if it's something "...you can't see from the trees?" smile

You should try to describe it a bit!!! Chambering as first matter! Bolt action 'inference' to confirm! The better descriptors provided the greater assist possible! Unless hit or miss answer here OK, get a few pix from him & post! Re the name only...
Sako of Finland made a great model "Forester" bolt rifle. As I recall, medium length push feed & not a '98 but generically "mauser" pattern locking system. Below Browning equivalent, several pix.
If Google doesn't produce anything, you may be out of luck. If you're adding terminology such as "Rifle" to your search criterion, it may be a "Mauser" brand of some other kind of object. Seems to me perhaps I'd seen such as commercial microscopes of that brand??? 'Bout all I can contribute!! Good luck!
Best!
John

Just a little bit of research today and I believe it is a waffen Frankonia Wuerzburg. It has Forester stamped on the receiver. 30-06, open sights, and double triggers

Relatively inexpensive rifle but he didn’t pay much.

What this Thread needs...? Humm! Is this a timed test? I don't have a photographic memory, but I'm trying to picture...! Illustratively conjuring, of course.

Nothing wrong with a good Interarms. Similar to Zastava and other commercial mausers. Good luck with posting pics here. I'd suggest a free postimage or Imgur account. It is much easier to post them that way.

JDK;
Top of the morning to you sir, I hope the weekend was a good one for you.

Hopefully it's okay that I've taken the liberty to see if I can make this work.

While I love our cyber 'Fire for a whole bunch of reasons, when Photobucket decided to go to the dark side and Rick set up his Image Gallery, the learning curve for me was steep to say the least.

You are part ways there however getting them into it.

Feel free to drop me a PM and I'd be happy to do my best to explain how I use it - but again since I'm a Canuck and all that, there might well be a language barrier? wink grin

All the best.

Dwayne

Thank you Dwayne. No problems at all. I doubt that there would be a language barrier as I can just about throw a snowball from my house to the border. New Brunswick that is but….

Thanks again and I’ll send you a PM

Very nice rifle. OP should be happy you posted pics for him. He did very well!!! That rifle is very similar to the rifle I just bought. Great rifles and I'll bet it shoots well, or has the potential to shoot well. Mine took a little work, but it's just like any rifle. Thanks for sharing!!!
