Just dug this out of the safe....haven't looked at it in years. Still have all the original box, literature, and all that came with it. Verrrrry nice. I had the 10th Anniversary S&W 745 IPSC Commemorative pistol for awhile, until it started shedding parts (actually the tunnel for the recoil spring was shedding pieces). That was a real disappointment for me.
Yours has a bluing that Colt hasn't done for years and years. I mourn for those days, when bluing was an art. No one does it that well any more, stateside, at least. Beautiful pistol. All the good stuff, none of the unnecessary nonsense.
You can roll a turd in peanuts, dip it in chocolate, and it still ain't no damn Baby Ruth.

Yes, Weatherby used to do that same type of bluing....looks like black glass. I can't imaging how much metal polishing it takes to get a finish like that.

Black glass ! That’s what I thought the first time I saw it Weatherby Mark V in person. I think it was marked $300 so it’s been a while 😁

They made 2 different versions. The higher-end one was a bit too gaudy for me, with lots of engraving and gold accents.
