I was given some old 200 grain Speer Lawman .44 Magnum ammo from maybe the 80’s? It has a hex shaped hollow point. Came in a reusable yellow plastic container. I’ve shot deer with .44 mag JSP and FTX. Just wondering about this older projectile and how it performed back in the day. Does anyone have any insights to how that stuff was loaded back in the day and the performance of that old school hollow point design? I’m thinking I may use it deer hunting. Thanks

WHICH .44 are you talkin' about? If I recall there were 2 commonly available in the 1980s.... If it's .44 Magnum it will certainly do a whitetail at any reasonable range if you do your job! .44 Spl. not so much.

I still have an old box of that stuff….although somewhere along the way I lost one piece of brass. I’ve loaded those same cases probably 15 times but I still remember that hex hp. I’d trust them on deer without concern.
