Truth. I have almost zero use for an outside cat. Almost.
No use for a cat here.

I have a fleet of cats and wouldn't be without them.

anybody with livestock, with hay or grain, in snake country, NEEDS a fleet of cats.

worth their weight in 22 snakeshot, plus they work in the dark.
?
That is pure Bull Crap. keep you place clean and not cluttered with junk and old grain bags, you won't need the cats. Rio7

You have obviously never had a stack of oat hay.

I am sure they exist in more moneyed areas. But I have never seen a feed storage barn, hay loft, or feed bunk which was rodent proof.

Here's a blanket I had made a few years back when the price tanked on them. I really started scaling back after that year. It seemed like a waste of a resource to me. YMMV.

Agreed

These Red's I posted about were in easy range for an hour

Just messing around

Saw the one do his 'mouse jump'

Come completely off the ground on all fours

then dive into the crusted snow

Rural Utah is just fine

I like watching a fox hunt and have at least a pair of them in the hayfields. If I see them in the back I'll treat them the same as any varmint.

My chicken raising cousin would be upset if I gave them a pass. If not for the chickens we both wouldn't mind having them around.

When I trap, everything that's not diseased gets put up and sold. Skinned out my share of .50 possum.

50 cent possum ??

what on brandon's green earth happens with a possum pelt ?

There is actually a decent market on them at times. There have been years I averaged $5 on them. Had them go for over $8. Also had plenty go for .50

In my experience, the more foxes you kill, the more coyotes you get.

Coyotes are ultimately a much bigger problem.

Lots of things need killing worse than foxes.

Foxes get a pass around here as long as they leave the neighborhood chickens alone. The foxes tend to leave the local chickens alone, I guess they have enough mice to snack on. Plus foxes are fun to watch hunt gophers and mice. Coyotes and skunks don't get a pass.
