Edgar C. Whisenant wrote a book called '88 Reasons Why the Rapture Will Be in 1988',
placing date of Rapture between September 11 and September 13,
a massive bestseller.. more than 4.5 million copies sold. Whisenant was
certain he had the date right - “Only if the Bible is in error am I wrong; and
I say that to every preacher in town. I would stake my life on Rosh Hashanah 1988.”

1988 came and went so he and his publisher issued a new work;
"The Final Shout/Rapture Report 1989."
selling only 30,000...When 1989 also proved wrong, he said he wasn't
planning any more books about rapture/end of the world.
"Now I can stand in front of the Lord and say I gave it my best shot," he said.

Epic fail Starman. Nice work, as usual.

Failed Rapture predictions ..the gift that keeps on giving ...

BBC May 22, 2011 - 'Rapture': Believers perplexed after prediction fails

Followers of an evangelical broadcaster who declared that Saturday
would be Judgement Day are trying to make sense of the failed prediction.

Some believers expressed bewilderment or said it was a test from God
of their faith, after the day passed without event

the evangelist at the centre of the claim, Harold Camping, has not been
seen since before the deadline.

The 89-year-old has used broadcasts on a Christian network and billboards
to publicise his ideas as part of a campaign that went global.

He said biblical texts indicated that a giant earthquake on Saturday -
which he said would begin at 1800 at various time zones around the world -
would mark the start of the world's destruction, and that by 21 October
all non-believers will be dead.

After 1800 passed and nothing had happened, he said: "I do not understand why...
I do not understand why nothing has happened."

"I can't tell you what I feel right now. Obviously, I haven't understood it correctly
because we're still here."

Other followers said they had had their doubts about the prediction.

"I had some scepticism but I was trying to push the scepticism away because
I believe in God," said Keith Bauer, who travelled 3,000 miles (4,800km), from
Maryland to California, where Mr Camping's Family Radio is based, for the Rapture.

"I was hoping for it because I think heaven would be a lot better than this Earth,"
said Mr Bauer, a tractor-trailer driver, who took the week off work for the voyage.

Rapture doctrine is novel, false, heretical and without Biblical basis.

Everyone alive when the Tribulation starts is going have to take a bite of the schitt sammich being served.

Dr. Bart Erhman, New Testament scholar and historian, dissects Revelations. Discusses Edgar C. Whisenant, 666, other end-of-the-world prophets going back centuries and centuries, etc. It's an interesting video.

I was in a home a few months ago to assess a ladies need for PT treatment. Her deadbeat son was sitting there going over charts that he was making an open Bible on the table.

I asked what he was doing. He was calculating the return of Christ. He had a mathematical formula figured out from secret hidden numbers. If I remember correctly, I tried to forget, we have until 2030 possibly 2032.

Bizzare setting with other stories and strange things witnessed. Needless to say I’m gonna go with Only the Father knows.

There is no pretribulation rapture in the Bible. It's made up. The idea first appeared a couple hundred years ago based on a misinterpretation of scripture.

The Bible says the saints will suffer through the events described in Revelations right along with the rest of humanity.

JESUS said it (return, rapture if you want to call it that, the tribulation) would all happen 'in THIS(HIS) generation'

HE was either right or wrong......

HE said his disciples would see it....

Again HE was either right or wrong.....

HE also said some of HIS disciples would be alive for HIS return....

HE also said they(HIS disciples) 'would NOT finish going through the cities of Israel before the SON of Man comes'

If either is wrong how can we trust any of it??????

HE did say ''no man knoweth the day nor the hour'

But does that mean totally clueless????

HE did equate it to a 'woman giving birth'????

I have had two children, and, during the pregnancy, I did not know the day nor the hour when they would be born, but I was also NOT clueless about when it would happen.....

A mass of misinterpretation, that.
