Has any used this on deer or other big game? I bought a bunch when it was on sale and the accuracy out of my Savage 110 is excellent. This is the elk box product and not the whitetail line. Just curious about its terminal performance on game. Thanks!

I don’t consider 150 gr soft point .308 bullets ideal for elk or moose. Probably great deer ammo!

Yeah not sure I would advertise that as elk ammo either. I’m planning on using it for deer and maybe a black bear

I bought a good bit of both the elk and whitetail box. Have yet to take anything with it. Can't really tell if there's any differences between the two boxes.

I saw them in my gun shop, all on the same shelf, intermixed. Was wondering about that?

From what I have read the elk box label cartridges are loaded with Norma Oryx bullets, the whitetail box are not and are a bit softer from what I have read. The FPS are different as labeled also. Just wanting to see if anyone had used them on game yet. Thanks

Oryx is a great time tested product. Should do fine on elk. I shoot the 150 ELDX out of my 7-08 and it does just fine.

Typically a reloader.

However, I've had excellent luck with Norma Soft Point Ammo.

I tried four different factory loads in my Sig Cross, of those four the Sig liked the Norma Soft Points the best.

To my knowledge, neither of these offerings are the Oryx bullet.

I've shot more of the Soft Points than the White Tail, and they are death on hogs.

Thru n' thru on the last couple dozen I've perforated.

ya!

I asked the question of differences on the two boxes/skus for the .308 ammo of Norma and the following was the response I received.

Good Afternoon

I received an answer to your question. Same ammunition 2 different manufacturing facilities.

I'd have no problem using that ammo on deer or elk either.
For elk, you might want a more conservative range and more confident in shot placement.
No idea how many elk have fallen to the lowly .30-30 Win.
When folks yammer about what is necessary for elk, I often wonder what they killed them with back in the late1800's and early 1900's when the "Win Mag" and "Wby Mag" rifles weren't available?

I've seen others mention that the "Elk" box is loaded with Oryx. However, if you go out there and look for a cataloged 150 gr Oryx bullet as a component, you will not find one.

It seems to me that if any ammunition was loaded with their more expensive, bonded Oryx bullet they'd make sure the packaging made it clear.

So it seems they are likely the same bullet however the "elk box" product comes out of the barrel a bit faster. I was hoping the elk box was loaded with a bit of a stouter bullet.

Very welcome. I saw them both and one discounted steeply so wanted to know before I bought a bunch. They were prompt in giving a response.

It has been my experience that Norma Ammo, when loaded with the Oryx Bullet is labeled as such.....
