The new Porsche 911 GT3 RS has completed the 20.8-kilometre Nordschleife of the Nürburgring in 6:49.328 minutes – 10.6 seconds faster than the current 911 GT3. Behind the wheel was Porsche brand ambassador Jörg Bergmeister, who was in-tensely involved in the development of the new flagship of the 911 series. An official was present to witness the lap time.


The new 911 GT3 RS is designed uncompromisingly for maximum performance. The 386 kW (525 PS; 911 GT3 RS: Fuel consumption* combined (WLTP) 13.4 l/100 km, CO₂ emissions* combined (WLTP) 305 g/km) road-legal high-performance sports car takes full advantage of technology and concepts from motorsport. In addition to the high-revving naturally aspirated engine with racing DNA and intelligent lightweight construction, it is the cooling and aerodynamic concept in particular that proves its direct kinship with its motorsport brethren. At 285 km/h the 911 GT3 RS achieves a total downforce of 860 kilograms – three times as much as a 911 GT3.

“Today the 911 GT3 RS delivered what it had already promised at first glance – absolute excellence on the racetrack,” says Andreas Preuninger, Director GT cars. “Considering the far from ideal conditions, with a strong headwind on the long straight of the Döttinger Höhe and cool asphalt temperatures, we are satisfied with this time. The 911 GT3 RS is setting new standards for aerodynamics and the chassis. Never before has a road car embodied so much motorsport.”

“We lost a little downforce due to the strong, sometimes gusting wind, but I’m still very happy with the lap,” says Bergmeister. “In the fast sections in particular, the 911 GT3 RS is in a league of its own. Here it’s on a level usually reserved for top-class racing cars. The car is also setting new standards in braking. Fast laps on the Nordschleife are simply so much fun in this car.”

last time they estab. a Nürb was way back 2012 IIRC.

I've been on the track with the current edition models. They are fast!

Have you seen the Gt2RS-MR on the track ?

2021 it set Nürb record for fastest production car. [6:43:300]..all done with
a package available through official Porsche dealership.

The MR option one could call in-house Porsche
since Porsche own 51% of Manthey Racing GmbH.

I like the over revs to 9,000 rpm.

I was most impressed by the tires. He spent a lot of time on the curb on the warning strip. They held up nicely and were plenty sticky on the turns.

No, I haven't. A bunch of Microsoft guys bring their Porsches down to PIR for track days. They spend a lot of money on their cars and on the guys that prep them.

Porsche has been doing a lot of things right over the years and more so in the past 10 or so.

Just remember: Porsche, there is no substitute!

I got an allocation for the new 992T, delivery in may. Those GT cars are beasts but im 60 and I’m ok with just under 400hp.
You can hear how fast the PDK shifts and frees up the driver to just go and steer. Im still going with a manual transmission. I like the interaction with the car and im probably not going on the ring. Im sure that car has rear axle steer too. Im on the fence on that one. My cutoff date to change anything is 2 weeks away. Here’s my build.
