Just for clarification:
Can a 300 WSM be re-chambered easily to a 300 WM or 300 H&H, or another more suitable cartridge?
The muzzle brake could also be removed without much trouble, I would think.

Other than a few minor modifications, its a very nice action & barrel.

I imagine this is a short action, so the easy answer is no. FYI the .300 WSM is every bit as capable as the .300 WM and H&H, so it's suitable for anything you'd use the other two on.

This would be a great option for something in 50 B&M I believe or any of the B&M Calibers if you are not a fan of WSM.

Figure right about 2 lbs on the action before the mag box and rings; so under 4lb for the barrel.

Sorry I posted the wrong weight earlier. I just edited the post with the weight. I said it weigh's 6lbs 12oz's. It weigh's 6lbs 1.2oz's (one point two ounces) Not 12 ounces. It's over a half pound lighter than what I stated earlier.

6.1 was what I was using for my estimate based on the scale. With the 3 oz brake I’d say just a bit over 3 1/2 pounds on the barrel - which should be about right given your #3 blank was just under 4 lb to start.

Up for a nice one!

I have been getting several PM's so I will try to add some additional info.

This will not fit in a pre 64 Win. stock. It would work with some Dremel work, but this is a post 64 action.
There are lots of m-70 stocks available online. ebay, boyds, midwest gun works, etc.

I have been asked about loads for it. I do not reload. This is a 3 shot group at 100yds with 168gr factory ammo

I had Greg Young (Southern Precision Rifles) put this together for me for an elk rifle when his shop was within driving distance of me before he moved the operation to TN. I am 65 years old and have no further plans to travel out of state to hunt.

I was going to keep the stock for another rifle, something that my Daughter or grandkids could shoot. 7mm 08 or maybe 308.

I have the original stock that came with the rifle. It has been glass bedded with pillars for this action. I would sell the complete gun with stock for $925.00 shipped.
