ctsmith must have a moat full of gators, razor wire, high voltage, and a concrete wall surrounding the farm. I've not doubt some of the locals here would do test runs on the mesh holes in the chain link as rifle rests....

J, we've been fortunate and there's been no trouble since inception. We are not in the "sticks" and get a lot of local traffic, which is a good thing and we encourage it. Most are well intentioned and help patrol the place. There's security cameras covering all public roads, in plain sight, which helps too. I realize that all it takes is for the situation to line up correctly and there will be trouble, but so far so good. I will be relieved to see all the antlers hit the ground. Made it through another year!

Thanks for the thread and your willingness to respond. I have seen only one buck that comes close to the ones you have shown. He was a massive nontypical in Green County, AL. I had a bow stand up a mock orange maybe 12 ft high bordering a soybean field and just about fell out of it when he 2 more bucks and a doe walked by within 15 yards. Of course the doe was facing dead at me and I couldn’t move. He was similar to your 3d buck but narrower and taller. I have no idea how many points he had because I could barely look at him. Let’s say it didn’t end well. Having spent as many hours as I have in the deer woods I can appreciate the joy you get from watching your animals reach their potential. It’s a grand scheme.

texken, we did NOT start with deer native to the property itself. Were there no deer on the property as the fence was constructed? How would you know this as I assume you are talking about 600+ acres? If I had the means[$$] i would love doing what you have on my meager property, and not for hunting but just to watch and learn. We are lucky enough to get to sit on the porch and watch deer mornings and evenings, some have marks or mannerisms to where you get to know if 'that' deer is in the group at any given time. Thanks again for the thread! Did I miss the bold above somewhere[if so apologies].
