Hodgdon's website says it should work well with a 240 grain JHP bullet. They say 15.6 grains max for a bit over 1300 fps. I have a couple pounds of that stuff. Usually I load a zippy round with 2400 or H110.
Any of y'all using #9?

I have some loaded with #9 .. I have to go look to see how many grains I dropped in them. they seem to shoot just fine the rest of them I've got loaded with H110. if memory serves correctly I've got the number 9 loaded mid-level. and the H110 toward the upper end. I'll look at the details when I go to the shop later.

oh my! I will load some with 15.5 and try them. Looks like 17 might do it for me. Thanks

I used 17grs of AA9 to push a 270gr WFN hardcast to 1100fps, cci350, ES of 9fps, 4" barrel 329pd. Very nice shooting load.

I used 20gr under 240gr XTPs and 240 Rem FPs out of a couple 44 Mag rifles a long time ago. Velocity was around 1550fps, iirc... been a long time ago. Shot a few deer with that load out of a Ruger 96/44. The XTPs were absolute meat grinders at that speed, so I switched to flat points.

I haven't shot any for a while but if I remember correctly The ones loaded with number nine or moving a bit slower but recalled about the sign or maybe a bit more and somebody answered this maybe it's just my memories failing over something don't ask me lol

I used some #9 with XTP 240s for a Rossi .44 Magnum carbine, they shot well on paper before deer season. I loaned my younger stepbrother the carbine, and he went off and killed three deer with it all the way out to 150 yards. He said they worked well, and the wound channels seemed to agree with his assessment. I never got to use that ammo myself. Danged near lost the carbine when my stepbrother tried to hide it when it was time for me to go home. He was pretty fond of that little 92.
So was I, so I got my carbine back and went home. I tried the same ammo in a Ruger Redhawk and it shot well in that gun, too.

It should make a good combination.

I got started reloading in about 1993 when I bought a 44 magnum and discovered how expensive ammo would be for it. Back then Accurate powders were the cheapest, so I used a fair bit of #9. It worked fine, but I don't believe that it was capable of quite as much velocity as H110, but that was a long time ago.
