One of the best turkey hunters I know carries a slate call in his pants pocket, and a diaphragm call in his shirt pocket. I've never seen him wear a vest.
I've mentioned my turkey mentor before. He just carried a call in his mouth and one in a pocket. He said the one in his pocket was in case he lost the one in his mouth.
I think my first "turkey vest" was a simple canvas upland bird hunting vest that had pockets big enough put a box call in. I think I still have it somewhere. Weird how turkeys didn't know back they they weren't supposed to die when someone was hunting them with a 2 3/4" load of #4s, a big ugly shotgun with an adjustable choke, and a tan canvas upland vest that wasn't camo at all.

They still don't know.
I'm still relatively young, but I remember when they were being killed by guys in jeans and flannel shirts. I'd say when the moon's right, one might still be able to do it.

Does anybody know if a person who pays a crazy amount of money for something like this from a 501(3)(c) organization gets to claim a tax write off for the amount above the retail value of the goods they receive in return?
From what I read and understand, the #5 vest did not come with all the custom calls. Supposedly the calls will be auctioned off separately from the vests. At least what I read on OG. Tax write off for someone.

I'm sure Mr. Fox is a fine gentleman. But if it weren't for this promotion. I'd have never known who he was. Truth be known, there's probably lots of old men out their that haven't missed a season for decades and decades. And truth be known, his name alone, Fox, must have something to do with Mossy Oak's enthusiasm. If his name was Albert Kernufflewitz, he wouldn't have gotten a notice. But Fox not only sounds predatory, it makes for a cool logo.
Glad Bobcat Goldthwait or Peter Coyote aren't turkey hunters. We'd have $1,000 vests for sale even before they were getting flipped on ebay.
