I'm thinking of getting a new bag and have been looking at Big Agnes. For their regular size bad they recommend it for people up to 5'10". I'm 6' so would I need to get a Long bag? Nobody around these parts carry them so I can't go try one out. What are your thoughts on Big Agnes bags?

I haven't had any opportunity to try one, someone on here had one for sale with the pad that really sounded like a great deal, I can't remember where I saw it but I think it was a long.

Do a search going out a few years and you'll find plenty of info. I for one like my Lost Ranger and AirCore pad. If you're 6' you'll definitely need the long.

I've been using a BA Stormking(down) for several years now, great piece of gear. Mine is a long. I'm a big guy and have plenty of room..........I use super, bulletproof Ridgerest pads.......never have to worry about a leak.......have used it for 50+ consecutive days in the bush and clean it with a little Woolite and cold water, gentle cycle, machine(front loader)wash.......put it in the extractor to get out excess water.........air dry........best bag I've ever used!

or sale a Big Agness Stillwater sleeping bag. This is a 0 degree, 725 fill down bag with Seam Zero construction for a waterproof shell. It is a long, right zip in excellent condition. Less than ten nights in this bag. It comes with a storage bag and roll top stuff sack. The bag is two years old and has always been stored in it's storage sack when not in the field.
Also included is a Big Agness Dual Core Pad to fit. It is a 20 x 78 mummy pad rated to 0 degrees. It is like new with less than five nights use.

The bag sells new for $379 and the pad for $104.05 for a total of $483.95. I will sell the set for $290 shipped to CONUS address. Now reduced to $240 for the bag and pad.

The reason I an selling is I just recently recieved my Kifaru Regulator bag and MOB so I'm reducing my gear collection.

If interested e-mail me at: runsmtns59msn.com

Thanks,

Ed T

I can also vouch for the Lost Ranger, it is a warm bag with more room than your traditional mummy bag. Have tired it our down to 40 degrees, real toasty.

D Bear, you guys get some wet weather, the down hasn't been a problem getting wet I take it?

If you could expound on your experience with the bag, I'd be obliged

You are right, It gets wet here. Second season coastal bull elk has to be experienced to be believed.

We don't buy any down. I had one and it got wet a couple of times and I said never again.

I am a hunter and an outdoorsman not a mountain climber.

In cold country I think down is irreplaceable, not here though.

Thanks for the input. Here is what I'm looking at Mystic 15 degree . I believe it should fit my needs. I've never been a mummy bag kind of person. I have to able to move around a little or I cannot sleep. I have debated down vs. synthetic and keep coming back to this bag.

I'll second your need for a long bag. I have a BA, and am only 5'8" and an not tight, but snug in a regular.

Please God, give me some good tags this year....

so can I take that to mean while you like the BA system you're using one of their bags with synthetic fill?

Almost tripped the trigger on the Poit Hoi or whatever the F the call it, but the down kept me from doing it. twas on sale at backountry gear. com

Yes, we use their bags with synthetic fill.

Their shield series bags and so forth might have some appeal but not enough for me.

Of course I llike wool pants too.

I have a BA Farwell (0 degree synthetic). I am 6' and the regular fits me fine. I must be a colder sleeper than I thought as I recently was quite chilled while using it at temps in the the 20 degree range while wearing a wool underwear and socks. Nice bag otherwise.
