I tried to google their value, but all I got is the runaround! Anyone here have any knowledge about that , other that 25 cents!

Made in 1943 only, I believe. All the copper was needed for wartime production- - - -wire and brass for shell casings. At one time, Ford had a standing offer of a new car for a 1943 copper penny- - - -rumor had it that a very few of them were minted by mistake.

A few steel Penny’s were minted in ‘44. They are pretty rare and worth quite a bit.

The standard 1943 steel penny in good condition is worth between 13 and 18 cents each depending on their mint location per coinstudy website. Really cool find -tnscouter

Mint condition = $10-20 each.
DONT polish them, keep them in original condition.

As stated previously. Copper was in high demand to support the War, so 1943 pennies were made out of steel with a zinc coating. Although they are unique, they have little value. Reasons being there were three different mint varieties and anywhere from over 191 million to over 684 million coins of each variety were minted. The key factor in collector values is the rarity, not necessarily the age. One common factor with the steel pennies, was in normal circulation and or improper storage, they would rust . Even pennies with no rust or discoloration and being in at least fine grade would have collector values of approximate .40 cents to $1.00. Only ones that would have considerable value , would be proof coins ( coins that were never in circulation ).

I really think I had a copper penny 1943. Son in law gave me a plated 1943.

The grandkids love steel pennies as they stick to magnets... thier parents did too, 30 years ago. https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p3519243.m570.l1313&_nkw=steel+penny

in the early 60s when in Elementary School, I use to collect them...
had quite a few... but we are talking 1960 thru 1963...
I use collect change for things like that in my youth... in 1963, my dad got transferred to England, so I collect old English pennies, Half pennies ( hateny bit) and 1/4 pennies ( farthings..)
All that got lost, when I went to college, and my folks went to Honolulu for the old man's last duty station...
