That's well over twice what I paid for 100 acres of good farm land over 40 years ago. What's the truck going to be worth in 2063? Like W.C. Fields said- - - -"It's morally wrong to let a sucker keep any money!"

Great. Now that will be an $85,000 truck.

My brother and I were talking about new vehicle high prices. He makes six figures at his job as do many of his co-workers, he said they're all basically boycotting new vehicles. He said they're not going to pay $50k for a truck much less $65-$85.
A younger lad/coworker bought one of the new Bronco's, $40K+ and the engine blew up driving it on the Highway. LAF

That is almost 4 times what we paid for our first home, and it was a nice place in a good neighborhood.

I paid $10,500 for a new 1985 F150. It was a basic 4X4 regular cab truck with a 6-cylinder engine and manual transmission. Other than AC and 4X4 it was as basic as they come. A top-of-the-line truck with all of the bells and whistles would have been closer to $15K in 1985. In 2022 I earned about 4X what I earned in 1985, so relatively speaking $40K-$60K for a truck is in line relative to income. And $40K today will buy a lot more truck than I paid $10K for in 1985.
But I wasn't interested in buying a $15K truck in 1985 anymore than I am in paying $60K today. I can do without a lot of the options. I can still find a new truck that meets my needs for around $40K.
Most people don't really want the truth.
They just want constant reassurance that what they believe is the truth.

I read that a little differently. GM has learned that the US consumer will pay as long as product is scarce.
They make a lot more money off 300,000 trucks at $75,000 than 400,000 trucks at $60,000.
So product will remain scarce.

I noticed a “like new” 2022 Single cab F-250 4x4 gasser (stripper XL) sitting at the Toyota dealership, the other day. Figured I’d take a look. Hey, it was bright red….
Only 4000 miles, perfect condition, crank-up windows, truly “stripped down”.
I’m thinking it’d be pretty cool, at $30-$35k.
Danged thing was over $46k!!!!
I bought my DIESEL, CREW CAB, somewhat optioned, NEW 2015 Ram 3500 4x4, for less than that.
So… thinking a NEW/single-cab/gasser/4x4 3/4-ton, is a $50-$55k proposition these days???

I’m not seeing excess inventory in this area, lots are still very empty, Some Chevrolet trucks and very few GMC’s,
I suddenly find myself in need of a new truck so for the last 2 weeks been driving around and surfing the web, so ya I’m familiar with the situation,
If I order The truck i want, 4 to 6 month wait,
Any ‘surplus’ around here might be the 1 or 2 Denali’s on each lot, 70 to 75k.

Bought my new 4x cummins in 2015 for 45,5 at Dave Smith. Todays same truck is around 75k. I built a loaded one for fun and I was at 90k. Even making 6 figures like the other Guys and feel the same way…I don’t need a truck that bad. I’d do 60 for a loaded one not 90.
All of them do something better than the 30-06, but none of them do everything as well.

I don't buy new. Last used one I bought was $30,500. Used Tundra with 25k miles. That was 7 years ago . Probably keep it for awhile. Have a 1999 Jeep TJ bought in 2001 with 17k on it. Just broke 80k miles on it. Probably keep it for awhile. Oh the Tundra also broke 80k lately too.

I guess I’m the poor guy in the group. I purchased a used 1996 F250 (gas) out of a guys front yard a couple of years ago for $1500 and I’m still driving it today. It currently has 145k miles on it. It may not be the nicest truck in the neighborhood but it’s dependable. The last “new” truck I purchased was a 2002 F150 for $26k. It made it through me and my two sons. It had 280k miles when I finally sold it.

The crash is coming and vehicle prices will come down drastically along with everything else. Buy what you can afford or ride it out. I see commercials with dealer advertised financing again. That’s because people have slowed down purchasing new ones in the 1st quarter. And bank rates are high
