Revolver accuracy has almost nothing to do with barrel length, mechanically. They do require good shooting form and trigger control.
I have a 2” square butt M36 that it’s no problem to keep them on a gallon paint can at 50 yards with.
The 2” M15 was created for the PPC course where shots had to be made from 50 yards. With good loads and careful shooting they’re very capable at that range and further.

Good enough for what I need them for, I like to carry a snub S&W sometimes.

Long ago got the snub .38 Spec. Taurus no spur version for my wife - seems best for what she can do and might need. In practice it seems to do pretty well out to 10 or maybe 15 yards. I am more concerned about her situational alertness and solid reaction.

Can you hit the broadside of a barn what you got Nope... Back in the day I owned a Taurus 82 .38spl snubby. I just couldn't bond with it. It was difficult to hold steady, and kicked back with "muzzle flip" with +P rounds. No matter how much I tried, even had a buddy help coach me, my groupings were terrible! I traded it at a local gun show, added a couple more bucks, and bought a Marlin .30-30 that had a cheesy-a$$ scope on it. I removed the scope, rings, etc... and returned it back to iron sights, and kept it pretty much at 75-100 yards at max. Snubbies are not for everyone. Some people love them and can knock a fly off a manure wagon with a snubby. I can't and never could. When it comes to handguns, I prefer my heavyweight "boat anchor", the famous, legendary, 1911 .45 ACP

I have 442 with a Crimson Trace laser. I can shoot it OK, but not as well as a Sig P365 which is actually smaller in most dimensions.

I'm good enough to keep your head down with a snubby but not good enough to keep one around for long. I just sold a 637 a few days ago. Good little gun but I didn't carry it as much as I thought I would.

The 2" snubbies are problematic for me. I get along with the 3" versions pretty well, however - and am large enough that carry isn't a problem. I use airweights - so as to NOT pull my britches down, though.

There is a big difference in snubs. Not much comparison between a K snub and a J snub. Can’t tell much difference between a 21/2 K frame and a 4 in K. Both are quite accurate. A J frame is difficult to shot accurately. Hasbeen

Mine is a Smith J frame, with hammer, barrel is about 2”. It’s a 38 spl and I can shoot quite well inside of 10 yards, which is what I own it for.

Yes. I'm deadly with it. That's why I keep it. I bought it at a time when a Taurus 85 was the best I could do. Many times I've been tempted to trade it on an S&W but it shoots too darn good

I trained with S&W Model 60s, twice a year for several years in a former job. I got pretty good with them and could put them in a pie plate pretty easily out to 25 yards. Using single action, I could go farther. Not every snubby is created equal. I've shot a couple that made shotgun patterns.

I recently had trigger jobs done on a 442 and a 2 1/4" model 60. Both have Crimson Trace laser grips. The 442 stings some with +P loads but it is more accurate than the Model 60 buy a bit. I was playing around with some 148 WC loads in the 442. At 10 yards I put the first 3 shots basically into the same hole. I looked at my wife and said "I think I'll just stop here..." She said "don't be a whimp shoot the last 2". I managed to put the last 2 into a group where all 5 shots could be covered with a dime. I may have that target laminated

All y'all barkin' about +P loads are lookin' up the wrong tree.
Hornady makes a lead 148 gr HBWC for the .38. Load it upside down, base flush with the case mouth. 3.0 gr. of Bullseye. They are sufficiently accurate inside 20 yards or so and when they hit something it goes SPLAT-FLOP. Nasty wound they make.
