Preparing to buy new 7mm Rem Mag rifle, and will be reloading for it as well. I had planned to purchase a Tikka T3x, but they only make 1:9.5 for 7mm RM. The newer high-BC bullets call for 1:9 or faster twist rate.

Anybody know if Tikka has a custom shop?
If not, anybody know of a hammer forged barrel maker for 7mm RM?

I have no experience finding semi/custom rifles/barrel makers and welcome any guidance.

FInd a reputable gunsmith, they will most likely be able to order the barrel for you. bugholes.com is a good place to get barrels.

Teeker are trite on COAL and RPM both. An OEM Big Green 7mm RemMag will Smooch, stabilize and house 180 ELD's in issued guise. Hint.

Barrels abound and you want cut or buttoned. Greg has (11) 8.7" RPM Bart's in stock, covering (6) different contours. I'd 2B at 24",wearing a modest shank and be kissing 180's at 3.585",allowing nice things with 190 Beer Cans,as mood dictated in a 700. Hint.

I've multiple Bart 8.7" and they are fhuqking hammers. Hint..................

Thanks Stick. Will be loading 180 for moose and 145 for whitetail, gotta cover all bases. And overspin never bothered Hammer monoliths either. Much too much to digest. Burp... Hint...

Stick led you to water.

If I were looking for a 7 mag I'd find a factory 700 and stick it in the stock of my choice. I've done this before and had great luck with 162 and 180 grain Hornadays.

That is definitely the easy way with the 700. I prefer to make it harder and use 1-8's and modify M70's so I can reach to 3.6 whistle

Oh if rebarreling I'd definitely go 1 in 8 but my factory 700 shoots 180 elds just fine and they fit in the mag box.

Recoil is a bit "robust" though so I mainly stick to 162s

You guys do it the easy way. What stock do you have on your 7?

It routinely blows minds with 180 ELD Smooches. Hint................

That's a pretty economical set up really. You 700 guys get all the breaks... Heard the new 700 7 Rem's are going to be 1-8 as well. Should make a quick rig a fella could run around about anywhere he cares.

What's that rig weigh?

If you just have to have a Tikka, you can get 3.6 out of them by running aftermarket bottom metal for 3.715 AICS mags and doing a few simple modifications to the action. MT has a good video out on the process.

I have one Tikka 7mm RM so equiped. Feed and function are fantastic. Despite the less than ideal twist, I've not had any trouble running 175's, even at low elevation. Likewise with a number of OEM 7mm RM 700's and a couple of MkV's I've had through the years.

As previously stated, an OEM 700 would get you everything you need with minimal fuss. And there's any accoutrement you could want available for the platform if your interests/needs change and evolve as time goes on. And all the better if they're going to be coming 1:8.

Nothing at all against the Tikka on my part. Own several and they've been great. Just think the 700 is a better/easier fit for long action cartridges.

Mines in a Mcmillan KS with an SWFA 3-9 on top. It's been a solid rig for quite a few years
