Shrapnel pretty well summed it up as far as I am concerned. You won't ever see a Clinton, Obama or Biden building homes or helping anyone outside of their own self-interests anytime soon.

Not a Carter fan, thought he was ineffective with the energy crisis, Iran and the inflation all three. I don't think he would have been elected if the media and the Democrats hadn't demonized Ford for pardoning Nixon. But (and this isn't saying much) he was a better human being than Johnson, Clinton, Obama, Biden and probably all of the Kennedys put together.

The oil embargo was a mofo. I was 18 years old and working in a gas station. That was probably a good thing because I could get gas whenever I wanted. It's a 6 month period of time that is etched into my brain forever. Interesting to say the least.

I suspect a pattern here, in our differing opinions on the Carter years, of course we really don't know much on the internet about a person...age, income...anybody can say anything, who is to know? My suspicion is, if you were financially secure and or in upper income brackets...you don't know schidt about the misery and anguish Carter wreaked through sheer incompetence to the dirty calloused hands working stiffs. Construction workers, loggers, millworkers, miners, truckers, oilmen were dumped like garbage. Carter's 'greatest achievement' (his words) putting 104 million acres in full federal lockdown in Alaska. Why were the Iran hostages released when they were finally? Because in 4 more days (444 days in captivity) a new sheriff called Reagan would be sworn in. In another earlier post I already mentioned elevating communist China and removing Taiwan from nation status, the giveaway of the Panama canal etc. If none of this registers with you, and your standards for being a good man are based on photo ops driving nails in free houses...nothing i say can change your minds...but Carter's policies and policy makers made my life hell.
Well this is a fine pickle we're in, should'a listened to Joe McCarthy and George Orwell I guess.

I agree with Shrapnel. I look forward to Biden joining Carter.

Exactly, but dont worry, he was a good man I really wonder what he and Rosalynn Carter thought about Bubba Clinton and that blue dress with his dried semen on it, and Bubba Clinton using cigars to tickle Monica Lewinsky's cooter. They had to have seen it, it was inescapable even back then. Maybe he threw his Bible at the TV and called it 'good enough' of a rebuke?

I was in the ninth grade when he was elected and don't remember the finer details of his presidency, but I do know I voted for RR in 1980.

Say what you will. I believe there is a just God and Jimmy Carter will receive salvation.
Never voted for him and thought he was at best ineffective as president This is it in a nutshell. As far as comparing him to the last 3 Democratic presidents and saying he was worse, I don’t know how you could be more wrong. The poor policies of Carter have long been washed away and recovery has happened to this country. Clinton, Obama and now Biden, have set stains on the constitution that will never wash off. Clinton and his murderous band of cronies have committed more grievous destruction to the United States than Carter ever thought of. You forget that half of the Clinton administration was Hilary. Obama did more to wreck any race relations since the race riots in the 1960’s, his hatred and mutilation of police and law enforcement will not soon recover if it ever will. He totally abused the office for his wife’s sake and to promote Islam, while claiming Christian values and fooled even more people to believe his ideals were virtuous. Biden single handedly has destroyed what is left of Clinton and Obama’s legacies by putting the most putrid people in all the most powerful positions in his cabinet. He is outwardly oppressing the constitution and doing his best to put this country in the worst condition it could possibly be in and not crumble. He isn’t done yet. How any halfway literate and functioning person can find Carter worse than these 3 is beyond belief… I'll wager most who are piling on were in diapers or not even zygotes yet. Had the failed raid been a success, he would be thought of as a hero. I disliked his politics, but I couldn't dislike the man.

What all the Carter haters forget is that he ain’t nothing compared to the other 3. Bash him all you want but don’t lie about who was the worst…

I think it's easy to forget the situation that Carter inherited from Johnson ,Nixon, and Ford. The Arab oil embargo preceded Carter, the defeat of the USA by Vietnam preceded Carter. America was demoralized and beaten down when he took over. I never voted for him and I believe he was in way over his head but all indications are that he is a decent and humble man.
I would think it might be time to "judge not, lest ye be judged". There are folks here ready to send someone to hell that maybe ought to get their own house in order and also remember there is a judge that cares not about their opinion or mine.
