I’m looking at either a Trijicon Accupoint 3-9x40, or a Swarovski Z3 3-9x36. I’ve heard lots of complaints about the Swarovski not tracking well. This rifle will be sighted in 1 1/2” high at 100 yards and left that way. If I ever took a shot over 250 yards with it it would be an extreme rarity.
These 2 scopes are at the top end of what I’m willing to spend, say $800. If there are others that meet this criteria, let’s hear about them.

Find a used Kahles AH 2-7X36 or Zeiss Conquest MC 2.5-8X32. Lightweight, great glass, great reticles, good low light performance (better than those Leupys), plenty of magnification, accurate adjustments, great coatings, solid build.

Meopta Meopro 6X42, 3-9X40, Kahles AH 3-9X42 all day long as well. Also, Conquest MC 1.8-5.5X38, 4X32, if you can find one.

The OP asked about 2 scopes. (Swarovski or Trijicon) Both good scopes. No wrong answer here. For me it boils down to personal preference. I have a couple of Trijicon scopes. I like them. As others have said, they are built like a tank. Personally, I would take an illuminated reticle over the tritium. The Credo is a very nice scope. Jmo, I really like mine.

I did only ask about two scopes, but I appreciate any other suggestions as well. I was looking at a Swarovski 1.5-6x42 with a German #4. Really nice scope for this rifles intended purpose, but at over 17 ounces, probably a little heavier than I want.

Paul,
They pop up on eBay or or forum classifieds from time to time. I was bidding on one last month and quit at $800. It went for over $900 as I recall. Gunsamerica had one listed recently.
My AH 3-9x42 is on a .257 Roberts. I can’t recall what I paid for it but think it was south of $400 several years ago. I picked up a Helia C 2.5-10x50 for $800 or so when they were new for $1,400. Now a comparable Kahles new is over 2 grand I think.

FYI, generally speaking: heavier = more durable/reliable and lighter = the opposite. Don’t shy away from a few extra ounces if reliability is important to you.

I have a Swaro 3-10x42 AV on my stainless Model 7. Pretty happy with it! Low light performance is a big deal for me on that rifle. Be sure to get a bold reticle. No xmas trees! smile

The CENTER will hold.

I really like my Trijicon Credos. Have two of them. Built like tanks.

The Z3 I have on my model 7 is lighter and feels less durable but has been plenty reliable.

I’m kind of on the Trijicon train right now though. That’s what I would recommend.

Swaro 3-9 with #4 reticle has worked for me for a lot of years. No problems hunting with that scope at legal shooting times where I've hunted. Mine has been on a 270, hundreds of rounds with that scope and rifle.

I don't have any experience with a Trijicon.

I have a couple of Trijicon Accupoint 3-9x40's and I like them a lot. I haven't really used them in low light conditions but I like the glass. I think they would do fine in low light.

I've own & hunted both scopes you're asking about. Green dot 3-9 Trijicon is my favorite....good at low light and my eyes gravitate to the green dot for ease of hold on/accuracy.

One thing to keep in mind is that the Model 7 is a lightweight rifle and a "big" scope can really make it top heavy and out of balance, especially one with a 30mm tube. There are some who think bigger/more is better but that's not always the case, fit and proportion to the rifle is important too. I had (bought it for my dad, gave it to my son when dad quit hunting) a Model 7, put a 2.5x8x36 Leupold on it, seems to fit just about right!

Not what you asked for but since you mentioned Swaro I assume there’s some budget availability… the Nightforce NXS 2.5-10x42 is your answer. Small and compact, dead nuts reliable. Perfect for a compact rifle. Blows any Swaro away wrt to durability.
