My understanding is that the JC Higgins Model 50 is a really good rifle. I'd grab one in a minute if I found a real deal on one. FN action with a chrome lined barrel by HighStandard. Higgins 51-L were Husqvarna actions. Dad has a .308 that I really like too. Chrome lined that was wortha damn. Not like Brownings WSSM bores. Chrome peeled like bad paint.

Coast-to-Coast Model 40 (Marlin M60), and a. Montgomery Ward Western Field 550AKR, (Mossberg 500).
Grandma had bought Grandpa a C-to-C Marlin, and when I expressed how much I liked it, Dad bought me one, for my 13th birthday, just like Grandpa's. Still got it. The Mossberg went away pretty quick.

Have a western auto Revelation .410 that belonged to my grandad. Killed my first deer with it with a pumpkin ball.

Son has a Sears & Roebuck that is a Marlin 81. I've got a Stevens 520 12 gauge that was sold by Montgomery ward as model 30. Someone engraved the entire receiver very nicely. Just restored it a couple months ago. It's 93-94 years old and shots a nice, tight pattern.

That's a "Buffalo Bill Cody" 16ga bolt action goose gun. I assume it's a Marlin or Stevens because it looks like every other goose gun I've seen, but I've never found another in 16. The story is it was my Grandfather's that I never met. I remember rescuing it from the rafters of our basement when we moved in 1978. I killed my first everything with that gun and after 35 years in the back of the closet I took it out and killed said gobbler with it just for old time sake.
They say everything happens for a reason. For me that reason is usually because I've made some bad decisions that I need to pay for.

I have a Sears model 80 .22LR. It's a Marlin. I have the Marlin version, too. There are a few cosmetic differences but the parts are all interchangeable. I bought the Sears new when I was in high school in the early 60's. I bought the Marlin used years later and I don't know when it was made.

I have a Glenfield .22 that is just a re-branded Marlin. The Glenfields were just as good as the Marlins, but had different markings and cheaper wood usually.

Western Field M782 in .243 (Mossberg 800B) Christmas gift when I was 16 almost 40 years ago. Didn’t matter that it wasn’t new. Recently found out it likes Sierra 85gr HPBT’s over W760.

Bought a Western Field (Mossberg) 20 ga pump with C-Lect choke back in the late 70s at Montgomery Wards. Never really used it much, gave it to the son of one of my cousins maybe 20 yrs ago.

Glenfield 22 and a Coast to Coast 3-inch 12 gauge (Mossburg 500).

My first gun that wasn’t a BB gun, was a Ted Williams(Sears) 20 guage with a poly choke. I have yet to have a shotgun that I could shoot better than that. Still kick my ass for trading that.

I acquired a practically spankin' new New Haven 600CT 20ga a couple years ago, which was a house brand Mossberg 500 made for for Monkey Ward's and Western Auto. It's now my up north ptarmigan and grouse whacker. New Haven Firearms

How many have some of the house brand firearms??
Coast to Coast, Western Field, Sears, etc.
Step dad had a little 20 gauge pump, Coast to Coast gun, made by Savage.
Dipschitt step brother had a Western Field 12 gauge 30" full choke turkey murdering SOB. If I remember correctly it was basically a Mossburg 500.
I once had a little 22 auto that had little vents cut in the non port side of the receiver, cannot remember the off brand of it. Savage model 6

Mossberg made a .22 RF tube feed rifle that could be fired either semi auto or single shot by pushing the operating handle in for single shot or pulling it out to auto load. I thing they sold the same model under various house brand names. I helped my grandson put one of them back into operating condition after one of his friends found it in an attic and his gun-hating mother made him get rid of it. I believe the forend was hinged about 6 inches from the front to make a turn-down vertical grip.
