Our 9 yo Lab is all of a sudden falling all over the place. Head is down and tilted. Gets turned upside down and can't figure out what to do.

Hoping it's temporary and goes away as quick as it came on.

Anybody deal with this?

Poor old girl is pretty scared.

What color are her gums? Is her breathing labored? Appetite?

Pale gums + labored breathing+ vertigo = bad news.

How’s her ears? Smell funky? Could be an ear infection.

Ears are good.

Breathing is normal.

I’ll have to check gums when I get home.

This. We've had two dogs that exhibited the same symptoms, and the diagnosis was a stroke.

Look up “ vestibular” disease. Sounds like it could be that. Had an older dog that had a spell like that. She pretty much got over it in a few days.

One of my Springers is just getting over that. The vet wanted to test till my bank account went dry and really didn't have a clue. I called the breeder and they said they would see it occasionally. "Old Dog Vestibular Disease" she recommended Dramamine and if none available Benadryl from the local pharmacy. If that is it it should clear in about 72 hours or so.

Good luck Higgie.

It sucks, but if it's still like that when you get home I'd go along with getting your pup to the vet thing.

Well scheidt, dummy me. NOW I look at the timestamp.

Do we get an update bud? Hope the critter is A-OK.

My dad had a lab mix, would run and fall over. Lay there motion less a minute or so. Then get back up.. kinda confused look.

Ended up being cancer.

At the vet now.

Vestibular disease they are thinking/hoping.

Drugs and 72 hrs to see if she rallies.

Poor thing gets turned upside down and can’t figure out wtf to do.

Fingers crossed.

Just wanted to update with some positive news.

She’s not 100% but has started walking enough we don’t have to carry her outside for waste disposal.

Still a bit twisted up but making slow progress.

It’s surprising how driven she has been to be by my side. I’ve always been her human, but by the second night she’d go through hell to get herself to my side of the bed. When things are normal, she’d maybe sleep there one night a week.
