Naildriver1: I have three Varmint Rifles in caliber 17 Remington.
They ALL prefer Berger 25 grain bullets for best accuracy.
I also use Federal 205M (match) powders in all three Rifles.
To date I have not used BLC-2 in any of my 17 Remingtons.
Good luck with the 17 Remington.

I know this is for the Mach IV, but data is close, reduce and work back up. I am using the 20g Vmax and VV133 for 4110 fps out of my 26.5" Shilen barreled Mach IV. I use the Woodchuck Den for my 17 caliber needs.

I know this dated a fair bit. Did you ever go forward with 4227 or 4759?
I am about out of AA2200 and only enough H4198 to make a body mad.

I do have a fair amount of 4227,4759 and some 2400. There is data for the 17MKIV and 221 Am looking at using for 20 VT as well.

Thanks for any findings.

VG,

Actually have tried quite a few powders in it... its an aftermarket barrel made by Douglas 18 inches in length...
Everything worked extremely well thru it... easily minute of sage rat at 200 yds... mostly shot 20 gr V Maxes out of it..

I have used everything from Blue Dot, Unique, Alliant Steel, 2400, 4227, both 4198s, RL 10, RL 7, H 322, 3031, Benchmark, H and IMR 4895s
Tite Wad... and multiple others in those burn range extremities... and 4759... smile

hope to beat up the rodents over in Klamath this spring

Probably put 400 rounds thru the barrel just playing with it...

Douglas sent me a good barrel.. its mounted on a Savage Axxis...

Currently now its wearing a 6 x 45 from Douglas also, same length and same contour...

Haven't pulled the trigger on that one yet... got brass prepped by need to start loading some up...

Got plenty of 6mm bullets in 55 to 80 grain weight... it will probably get a work out just like the fireball did...

Thanks for posting all that info...

Steve Pages is my main source for load data, even if I have plenty of older load manuals...

I also extrpolate loads with shotgun powders, from cast bullet manuals or from similar cartridges.. start low and work up..
