I finally bought a Mk 2 in 308. Put a Leupold 4 x compact. Reasonable accurate. I wanted a small carbine without an under barrel magazine and more distance than a 30-30 is capable of. Never really thought of hunting much with it. A last day small mule deer buck shot with the 308 got my 10-year-old grandson to name it "Dik Dik" after the small African antelope. Now that he can legally hunt big game this year Dik Dik is looking mighty appealing to him he said tonight. I like the idea that I can remove and replace the scope with only minor scope deviation. I carry far more often than shoot so scopeless is a plus for me. I have one of the NEI receiver sight for the carbine, but it looks delicate and complicated. I purchased a Ruger scope ring and am going to try to make it into a very rugged and simple receiver sight. If it works, I will post my results.
