Been slowly picking up parts for this build for a while now and I'm down to the barrel. Who makes the better AR-15 barrel in 7.62x39, kak industries or bear creek arsenal? Also 16" or 18"?

Between those 2, I’d go KAK.

It looks like faxon makes a 7.62x39 barrel as well. Would that be a better choice than the other 2?

BCA is an OK budget option. I don't have any experience with KAK, but Faxon is GTG. They're well made, accurate and affordable.
This one is on sale.

That's the exact one I was just looking at! I'm leaning towards that one. Are faxon BCGs good as well, or is the fail zero better?

Go Faxon. Ask them to match it to the barrel.
Most BCG, including some "High End" ones, are made by 4 or 5 companies (Toolcraft, AO Precision, Azimuth, Microbest...)...you pay extra for the Logo.

Mine's an AR-STONER from MidwayUSA and it shoots very well! I believe it was made by BCA. It's a heavy 16". $74.99. Shoots circles around my Mini-Thirty, but not quite as good as my Ruger American Ranch rifle.

OP,
From the 2 BCA barrels that I've bore scoped,I'd use either as a tent stake.

Satern(cut)/Liberty(button) barrels shoot well.

Ensure if your barrel chamber requires a TypeI(.126") or TypeII (.136") .450" breechface bolt.

7.62x39 chamber should have been reamed for a TypeI bolt.

6.5 Grendel chambers are reamed for TypeII bolts.

ASC mags function well.

Keep 'em in the X Ring,
