Just what the title says. I have Norton as my protection. But this crap just appeared a few minutes ago. I go to goggle and type in Wyoming Gun Shows, and norton takes over and can't find crap.

I just use Microsoft's OS software and haven't had a problem since Gore created the Internet. I do use Adblock Plus for the ad and popup annoyances. Works well. I do lose access to some sites, but that's okay.
If I talk over you, I apologize. I'm afraid I will lose my train-of-thought.

I paid for norton many years ago and a bout a month before i was to renew. I would get all konds of crap happening to my Computer.
i told a Cousin that was a very high paid computer geek. And he told me that norton would not do what i thought they were doing. this Happened 3 years in a row.
Then my Uncle started having the same problems .
A year latter my cousin called me up to tell me that 500 Computers that he was in charge of for the company he worked for all Crashed over night.
He remembered what I told him about norton. They had just received an update from norton the day before the Crash.
He uninstalled norton and it fixed all of the 500 Computers.
norton can go to HE!! as far as I am concerned they are nothing but rip OFF Bastids as I an concerned.
Anything that they have their filthy hands in I will not purchase.
But that is just me , my late Uncle and my Cousin Screw norton

Windows symbol lower left corner then control panel, then programs. Click on Norton and uninstall. When you finish that uninstall the dumb fuggs who provided the first threeanswers that didn't answer shift.

Go into search engine settings in your browser as Norton being the virus it is probably updated and automatically enabled itself. If running 10 or 11 you can do it in settings under default programs also. Previous statement about MS security is just as good as any is true. The only one I would pay for is Malwarebytes. None better for all around features, and MS security defaults to it but can also be set to run periodically.

Miles58: He didn't say he wanted to uninstall Norton, just that he is perturbed by Norton's Safe Search.
Swifty52: The Malwarebytes icon sits next to my Adblock Plus.

Pard, I'm here to help.. To uninstall Norton Safe Search from your computer, follow these steps:
Open the Control Panel on your computer. Click on "Programs and Features" (or "Add or Remove Programs" depending on your version of Windows). Find Norton Safe Search in the list of installed programs. Click on the program to select it, then click on "Uninstall" or "Remove." Follow the prompts to complete the uninstallation process. Once the program has been uninstalled, you may also want to remove any extensions or add-ons associated with Norton Safe Search from your web browser. To do this, open your browser and navigate to the settings or extensions menu. Look for any extensions or add-ons associated with Norton Safe Search and remove them.
If you have difficulty uninstalling Norton Safe Search, you may want to consult your 13 year old kid/grandkid for assistance.
Then STFU. The rest of your statement is superflous bullshit with no real bearing on this discussion other than to massage your own ego. Suckin' on my titties like you wanted me.

So, do you still want to use the Norton you paid for ?? You can shut off safe search and then run all the gun porn you want.
Google it for an explanation on how to shut it off. Or, go to the 3 dots at the top right hand corner of your opening screen. Click on it and go to Extensions. Find Safe Search and shut it off.

Just go to your browser's settings, then where it says "Privacy, Search, and Services", then all the way down towards the bottom where it says "Address Bar and Search" click on that and it'll take you to where you can select and manage your search engines and the search engine for the address bar.

Norton and McAfee are 90's era bloatware that are performance robbing spam generators. You need to uninstall, but even that will not remove the cancer entirely.

For the Norton Sage Search only...... Click the extensions icon on the top right. It's to the right of the URL window. It looks like a puzzle piece. If you can't find it, go to the 3 dots, then More Tools, Extensions. You will see All of your extensions. You can turn the extension for Safe Search off by sliding the blue switch to the left. If you are sure that you don't want it, you can remove it.

Never had much luck with Norton. It acted more like the viruses the software was supposed to block. Other brands tried weren't much better .

You'd have to work awfully hard to convince me that those who write AV software by day don't write viruses at night. Kinda like a cyber CDC.
