Does anyone have any experience with flail mowers? I would think they'd be more maneuverable than a brush hog or sickle mower. How much can they handle and are they easy to maintain? A guy at Church was looking into them but I don't believe I've ever examined one closely.

I’ve run one for thousands of hours, but it was modified to chip the pruned limbs in the orchard. It would bust up pretty much anything it ran over up to about 4” limbs.

One of my landlords bought one to mow around his fishing ponds, and it did fine on waist high weeds for a while. Turns out, they don’t last if you don’t grease them. Doh!

So I guess the answer is depends on how they are built and maintained, but they certainly have the potential to take on anything.

If you hadn't voted for Biden, you'd be smart enough to answer your own question.

Lol, you did.

We have to get rid of slugs like this they do nothing but add stink to a pile of schit.

People also need to pay attention to who their replying to.

Yeah, you do that and keep track for everyone.

Can’t thank you enough for your efforts.

How to "pay attention to who you are replying to" Up by the thread title?
I've never figured it out.

I've run them in cornfields before baling the stalks. Rocks are hard on the flails. It's bad on bearings when they aren't balanced right. I'd stay away unless you've got serious work to do with it.

At out last house I had a 26HP Kubota with a smaller flail mower (Del Morino). We lived on 5 acres, of which about 4 were big timber. I used the mower to keep the black berries and a small meadow under control. I was able to maneuver around the trees quite easily.

It worked really well for that. It also worked well for stuff up to about 3-4 inches. If I dropped a tree I would pile the bigger branches into a burn pile. But with the smaller stuff I would just run the mower over it. Same with yard trimmings and pruning that I would pile up. No need to burn it.

It was easy to maintain. Check the oil level and belts every once in a while. I'd use a 4 inch edge grinder to maintain the Y blades.

It was fun to use.

I see.

Keep up the Hall Monitor job and policing The Campfire.

You’re doing great especially in keeping track of those who would dare reply to simple questions with civility.

Can’t have that scchitt, no sir. Pur’em on “The List”.

He is doing a good job actually, and a lot of us appreciate it.

Virtue signal with your “it was a civil question” elsewhere after the bîtch drops a turn in the punch bowl prior.

Knowing who is a bîtch and who is relevant really does help a guy skim through the freakshow quicker.

Very good points.

I can see why folks like yourself would need directions from others and reminders, too. Self evident.

You should definitely examine one closely, like sticking your fugking head under one while it’s running you POS liberal Fugk.
