Was at the LGS looking for a striker fired 9mm that can take optics. Of all the ones I held today, the Glock 45 felt best in hand. Curious if anyone is using a pistol of this size for CCW/EDC? If so, any tips or tricks would be greatly appreciated.

I am not sure what info you are looking for.

I carry a full/mid size gun like the G45 daily. The G45 being a G17/19 type combo. Having a high quality belt and holster and wearing properly is key. If you buy cheap/cheesy stuff that is very popular these days, you will find it is not comfortable and make excuses not to wear it, leave it in the car, etc. There is a lot of "Lifestyle" branding crap out there now.
,
"we the people", "Vet-Bro", and other stuff with catchy names and influencer chicks, but it does not mean the actual product is good. I stick with known gear. Wilderness belts, Milt Sparks holsters. If you want an OWB, the Raven Perun is a good one. Not expensive but works well.

Lots of people own stuff, but I find that very few truly carry 7 days a week. It takes a little bit of thought to dress around the gun.

The G45 doesn't interest me. But the slim G43X or G48 MOS with the Shield Arms 15 rd. magazines is very tempting. Stick a Holosun 507K on top and have a 15+1 pistol of those dimensions is kinda tough to beat.

I tried the G45 and for CC, the longer grip printed more than I liked.

For me, I carry a G19 MOS everyday at the 3:00 position. Wilderness 5 stitch belt and a JM Custom Kydex holster. Though I do want a Milt Sparks VM2 for it.

But I’d recommend renting a few and see which you shoot the best. Build around that vs what’s easiest to carry.

Mackay- thanks for that info. Exactly the kind of stuff I was looking for. It appears that the size can be mitigated. And I appreciate the suggestions for makes/models. I'll start shopping/looking with those first.

I didn't think it would me either. Just felt so much better in hand.

My G43X sure is easy to carry.
But if problems arise I'm confident I would rather have my G45/RMR with me.
My performance on the range proves it.

EDC should be chosen on your training and practice routine. Like above performance on range. Also the carry.
This should include strong hand to weak hand transfer, weak hand practice, strong hand practice as well as two handed. Recovery with two shot sighted pairs, and tactical reloads. If you don't do it this way, just get the one that feels best in your hand

I've carried all sizes of handguns over the last 40 plus years, from all steel Government Models, Glock 17s, S&W Model 13s, etc., and carrying everyday, all day, is no chore with the right holster and belt.

You need a high quality, heavy duty, gun belt, and a good IWB holster. As mentioned, Milt Sparks is a great source for both.

Almost in the same boat. I"ve carried, and am a huge fan, of the 43X. But with as schitty as the States are getting by the hour, I want bigger CCW. While the 45 is appealing, I am confident I am switching to G19 Gen 5 Think the grip is plenty long enough. INCOG IWB Appendix. I am older and think I'm going to opt for an RMR.

Just dont think the micro dots that fit on the micro pistols help all that much. Having handled a 43X MOS.....they're sooo small. ANd I prefer to run factory 15rnd mags over the after market shield. Just me.

Neither/any are bad choices....43X, G19 or G45. All good, cheap options

Please God, give me some good tags this year....

I handled a 19 G5 yesterday and it felt good, but it still didn't trump the feel of the 45 to me. So, the 45 came home and a SCS is en route. Will see how it all comes together.

To me Glock got it backwards, or wrong. Short grip, long barrel makes more sense. But.... talking to an ex cop , he likes it. The long barrels wear holes in the car seat and are uncomfortable. My bro in law got one cause his pudgy hands fall off a G 19.
I respect Glocks but do not like them. The gen 5 got rid of the stupid nubs at least. I do like the size of the G48 but it should be double stack like the Shield Plus. That one has it going on. Sights, trigger, capacity. Barrel is too short but the damn thing shoots good and is easy to take down. And it cheaper.
