I'm not specifically aware of how the other states handled things. I had a particular interest in Victoria, because that's where my favorite work boots are made or at least used to be.

It was my impression that each Australian state had their own response to COVID. Victoria was frequently in the news for implementing more extreme measures, including very strict lock downs. I'm not specifically aware of how the other states handled things. I had a particular interest in Victoria, because that's where my favorite work boots are made or at least used to be. Yes. Queensland and Western Australia in particular are "nanny states" and those premiers tried to out-compete each other in stupidity, for example with extended border closures - last one to open a border wins apparently.
