I'll be 80 in a few months. I walk a mile or two every morning and hit the weights three times a week. Up until a couple of months ago I had good posture and never figured I'd be one of those old guys walking around with some degree of stooped shoulders. It started with a tired feeling in my low back that gradually increased. There's no pain and I've got no problem standing straight or walking without the stoop for short distances. My GP says the discs between the vertebrae dry up as we get older. if there was some significant treatment you wouldn't see so many older people walking around like that and PT might help but don't count on it. I'd like to think there's some kind of exercise program that can counter this. Anyone here had this condition and beat it?

We’ve had real good luck with putting 75+ year old clients on a deadlift program. Once they (male or female) get over 200 lbs for 3+ reps the stoop and back pain seem to be only a memory.

Let your diaper get nice and heavy, that'll pull you right back up.

My GP says the discs between the vertebrae dry up as we get older.
If you smoke or chew, quit. Nicotine coats the discs and prevents them from absorbing water. It also causes back pain. During the day, your body weight squeezes water out of the discs. Then at night, when you're lying down, they expand and draw the water back in. The nicotine coating prevents the water from being reabsorbed.

I wouldn't go to a "chiropractor" if he/she was paying me!
I've got personal knowledge of two.
1) his "nurse" was the wife of a guy I worked with and he and I attended the same church.
Guy ended up dumping his wife & kids for my friends wife. She was not a real prize either.
2) ran a store. Couldn't keep his pants zipped up. Lazy, worthless slob, but I got discounts on guns and ammo!
Dork literally "robbed" the store. When it caught up to him, he divorced his wife, quit the store, married a waitress 10 years his senior and became a chiropractor!
Left over $10k in taxidermy laying in his shop. Folks had been waiting for years for their mounts.
His excuse? "I don't do taxidermy unless I feel like it!"
Sadly, his taxidermy work was excellent! 😖

Soooo....I don't to chiropractors.

Just turning 80? Stuff happens!

Calcium supplements and exercise is about all you got on your side.
I'll turn 73 this year. NO idea how I've made it this far! 🌞
I've had so many orthopedic injuries, I'm lucky to be able to stand up, much less walk.

Regardless, sincere hopes you find what you need!

BTW! Don't let my "bitter" experiences with chiropractors influence you. You do as you wish! ALL chiropractors can't be bad! LOL!

I can understand it being something that you’d like to fix and maybe your Dr. can recommend something but it sounds like you’re doing great.

My back snap, crackle, pops and I’m only a little over half of your age.

Good advice but he’s 80 and hitting the gym 3x per week. I’m guessing he’s not much of a boozer or chain smoker. If he is and still getting all that done even more credit to him!

Maybe try one of those racks where you hang upside-down like a bat and straighten things out ?
And combine that with the sex thing and really straighten things out ?

I wouldn’t go to a chiropractor. Because a taxidermist ripped me off once
