Not sure about “rare” as anyone could have one built but here goes:
Back in the late 1980’s I was checking the racks at Great Northern Guns in Anchorage, AK. Found a left hand 450 Ackley built on a Rem 700 action by Brown Precision and was wearing a BP stock. It was light and most likely weighed in around 6.5 pounds. Rifle looked unfired. Memory tells me I paid just under $600 for it.
Bought some die’s and formed some brass and headed to the range. First shot about knocked my teeth out and bruised my shoulder and jaw. Didn’t have to worry about a second shot as rifle wouldn’t feed anything. It was apparent whoever built it at BP never did a function test.
Mailed it back to BP and they fixed it and I had them add a brake. It helped, but not enough. Sold it soon after and glad I did.

My biggest fear is when I die my wife will sell my guns for what I told her they cost.

Reminds me of the story regarding a guy trying to sell a big kicker with a box of ammo. Three fired cartridge cases in the box of ammo. Buyer asked the seller if he only fired the rifle three times? Seller responded "No. Third owner..."

That made me laugh...

Probably my rarest is an Anschutz 1808L 22lr running boar rifle. It has a thumbhole stock and barrel extension (bloop tube) with weights

Only have one. It's what my wife shoots a Tikka 7-08. Pretty rare huh.

I prefer classic.

I posted in this thread four years ago, and just now I read all of it again. The man who started this thread, nsaqam (Ken) passed on sometime before 2016.
And I have the rarest left-hand rifle of them all - Ken's garishly painted Jackson Pollack left-hand Kimber Model 84 chambered in 6X47.
Rest in peace Ken. As long as this thread lasts you are gone but not forgotten

flyer898, With a whopping 27 posts in 7 years, you appear to be a man of few words. grin

But that's a nice homage to Ken in a thread that's still alive 10 years later.

I'm guessing now my two Coopers are my "rarest" rifles since Cooper was bought out and future production is unknown.
One is a Jackson Squirrel rifle in 22 mag and the other is a Custom Classic in .22LR. The Custom Classic is pretty decked out with XXX wood, inletted sling swivels, checkered bolt, fancy butt plate, etc.

Hello fellow lefties,
Currently my collection of left hand bolt action rifles contains,
1. Remington 581 22lr, my uncle bought this from a retired scout master in 1988, it was new in the box, I think he paid 35 bucks for it.
2. Winchester model 70 LH 30-06 Sporter. I bought this new in the box in '97 from Riley's Gun shop in Hookset NH. I traded another model 70 chambered in .225 Win for it.
3. David Gentry custom Mauser 338 Win. Mag. Stainless McGowen barrel, nickel plated action, McMillan stock. I didn't order this rifle, but it fits me very well. I'm not sure how many rifles he built, but the serial number is two digits.
4. I have a Montana 1999 LH stainless action that is in the process of becoming a 9.3x62. I had a zastsva LH m70 9.3x62 but couldn't develop any warm feelings for it, so it was sold.
5. 62 caliber flintlock muzzleloader, something my dad built in the 80s when he was into that sort of thing. Shoots a 340 grain round ball into minute of deer in front of 130 grains of FFG.
I will get you some pics as soon as I can. Enjoy your day!

I did not always agree with his politics. However, I appreciated his choice of rifles. I still own my first Rem 700 KS rifle that I purchased from Ken. IIRC, I am the fourth or fifth 24HFC owner of the rifle. And it ain't going anywhere. RIP...

I discovered some other rare left-hand rifles. In 1937 Mossberg became the first rifle manufacturer to manufacture and sell a true mirror image left-hand bolt action rifle. They even made a dozen or so for Montegomery Wards.
The left-hand rifles did not sell very well and I think the total production was less than 400. Mossberg did not put serial numbers on .22 rifles in those days, so it is difficult to know.
I have three left-hand Mossbergs including one marked as Western Field (Wards).
All three of mine are in very nice condition, especially considering their age.
Does anyone have an older left-hand rifle?

I have a LH Remington Model 700 factory chambered for 8 X 57 MM, in a gray laminate stock. It was made in the early 1990's exclusively for distributor "Bill Hicks Inc". They were offered only in metric calibers (6.5 X 55 MM Swede, 7 X 57 MM Mauser and 9.3 X 62 MM). It's the only one I've encountered in twenty years of searching. I purchased it off of GB from a gun shop in Montana ten years ago. I tried to some information from both Remington and Bill Hicks Inc with no success.

Remington Model700LH from the custom shop in 270 Win. 24" bbl, matte finish, tiger tail walnut stock W/rosewood forearm tip and grip cap, Old English pad, made in 1983. I lucked into it at a gunshow about 20 years ago. Unfired, $450. You must be kidding!
