I was the foreman/super on quite a few custom homes in, or near Santa Fe, NM over more than 10 years. Didn't take pic's in those days. The boss and realtors did. Can't remember the count, now. Been out of the trades for 28 years. The Santa Fe style houses were fun, though. Multi-level floors, and multi-level roof lines. Some hard-trowel plaster, a LOT of stucco, much saltillo floor tile, some tiled counter tops and showers, vigas, rough cut or t&g roof decking. More "unusual" stuff that I can't enumerate right now. Kind of like putting a large-scale jig saw puzzle together. Only parts I've not done, personally, are HVAC (didn't have the equipment for tinbending) and hot roofing (didn't have ANY desire). Had my general and electrical licenses - even plumbed a house (bona-fide licensed plumber checked it out, permitted it, and did the boiler work), but I ran the lines and set the fixtures. Plumbing inspector flat asked me to go take the residential plumbing test. I informed him that if I'd wanted to be a plumber - I'd never have gotten an Associates degree in Electrical Technology.

Good thread earlybrd.
I was a general contractor for a dozen years, did hands on work sometimes and subbed it out at other times. Never built anything from the ground up by myself, except a shed in my backyard for mowers and such - nothing fancy. I was goofing around on google earth just a couple of evenings ago and for whatever reason looked in my old backyard to see if hurricane katrina wrecked the shed. It's gone that's all I know. Not very many people in my circle of friends can build anything.
Forgot, I built an 8'x12' - 8' off the ground shooting/camp house at my lease back when I lived in Florida. Hurricane Michael tore it up pretty good but I repaired it. Camped out in it for 10 days once.
Huntsman22 > wow that's some framing skills. Sheetrock hangers/finishers love it I'm sure.

The wife helped me with the roof. Uhhh yeah I also had a 7:30-4 “worky job” while alla this chit going on. Used to be glad to be at work. It was only rest. lol She would tear off about 5 squares and clean it up and run new plywood up the Ladder Vator I’d get home and deck 12-15 sheets and felt it and she’d run up shingles and I’d get them laid and quit for the night. Took about two weeks. Always left it weathered in and protected during progression. About 45 squares. Carriage House

I left farming after college for a good while. Worked as a carpenter, got my general contracting license, did that for a bit. Not digging up those pics. Now I just play with wood work.

I been on a root cellar idea for a couple years. But since I suck at growing potatoes. Might not be necessary.
I still want to do it though 😃
