Our friend BillR has been gathering this data over the years and it is shared here today.
If a rifle is on this list, its serial number, configuration and caliber have been recorded.
IMO this sampling of ~350 rifles would lend this data to be reasonably statistically significant.
You may draw your own conclusions.

I have an 1899F ( SRC ) in 25-35 that probably isn't on the list. Would he want that for his data?

I think this data is bringing me to the conclusion to just go buy an easily acquired Winchester, because I haven't, nor am likely to find what I'm looking for without selling my fillings and a kidney 🤣

What is the distinction between Saddle ring (SR) and Saddle ring carbine (SRC) on this chart? If any how many SRC in A models are known to exist? Any model come with a saddle ring other than the F carbine? GW

I think the SR means short rifle? Actually I have no idea, maybe saddle rifle. I forget and should keep my mouth shut.

Winchester M1894’s in any of those three calibers may be a bit easier to find, but all thing being equal have doubts that they are easily acquired and will cost less.

So far I've stumbled across several 1894 32-40s for sale in my price range while finding exactly 0 1899 32-40s within it.

None of them are cheap these days, but the couple Savages that I have seen are high condition/high dollar specimens, not shooters like I'm after.

On the back burner for now anyway... stupid car ended up eating into a chunk of my play money last week.

SR is "Short Rifle" and SRC is "Saddle Ring Carbine".

I'm not greedy, I just want one of each.

I think I have been collecting this data for over 15 years. Anyone with one of these calibers in 1899s can send me the model/caliber and serial number as a private message. Numbers and source are not shared together. Full numbers work best as Eg/ 458XX would be discarded if I already have Eg/ 45843 as they could possibly be the same rifle. Since many guns seem to travel between Savage Forum members I often find numbers sent are duplicates.
When my Dad started collecting Savages about 45 years ago a man named George Hopper from southern Ontario had a fantastic collection but had never been able to acquire a 25-35 in an 1899. How scarce are these rifles really. A great question to discuss over a beer. Maybe we will know someday if the Cody museum does an actual count.
I have yet to encounter two serial numbers that are consecutive.
Thanks to Southern-WI-Savage for placing the data on the chart and posting it for all to enjoy.

I am extremely surprised to see 24 1899H solid frame 25-35's on the list. Solid frame 1899H's just aren't that common overall, and for the majority of 25-35's 1899H's to be solid frame.. interesting.

Agree.
Note 3 explains. Possibly reporting omission. I suspect the ratio of solid frame to TD's would be similar to normal production of all other calibers, whatever that is.
