Couldn't say. But I'm anxious to hear from someone in the know.

Yes, I seen some a while back. In a farm-feed store.
This store also sells pew-pews.

Is that what they are?
I thought they were ball hangers.

They still make them. Most I've seen have a neoprene strap, though.

Used them since the fifties for duck/pheasant and actually just got some new in a package and some used in a bunch of auction stuff.

I have some just like that! Gave a set to 2 of my sons. We use em for ducks, squirrels and rabbits (small game). We’d squeeze the rod parts to fit the squirrels necks. When I could no longer find them for sale, I made some fancy ones out of canvas strap and brass brazing rod. Looked very classic. I used to get them for about a dollar at Walmart. Haven’t seen any in a long time. Also made some of parachute cord and brass rings. Take pieces of cord , attach a ring to the end of each, and tie the ends without the ring together. I used 8 cords because the squirrel limit in my state is 8. I have seen muzzleloading shooting bags with such a game carrier, but made of leather.

I have some that were my dad's. He grew up duck hunting in the Arkansas delta. I have used them a time or two many years ago.
