My best buddy growing up (mid 70's) always had one and we hunted ducks and pheasant behind one. This was NorCal Sacramento Delta. These are our current dogs. They don't hunt.
My labs are the best dogs I’ve ever had. They mind very well and never cause any problems. Don’t even chew up stuff anymore. First two years was rough though. 😱
Got Charolais cows right behind the house, thought that I might of had a prob at first. But nope, they dont mind them bovines either. Purely outside though. Just checked on em a couple mins ago. We had a lightning strike about 300 yards away, they dont even give a shît 😃
I’ve always liked the chocolates the best and have had several. My current dog is choc lab german shorthair mix. He’s my bud and goes with me everywhere. I really like the combo. Yes, he’s spoiled. He’s great on pheasants as well.
Our red healer above has a huge underbite and had to have a canine removed for function as a very young pup. The sole survivor of a two litter birth. There are a couple of other things physically not "right" with her (short tongue that makes drinking water some work with the underbite) and her snatch is, well, just not right, but she is a sweetheart while being tough as nails.

I've had one black and one chocolate that I hunted. The next chocolate was an 18-month-old rescue; she was a wild child when I brought her home. Sasha was great companion for the 8 years that I had her, cancer led to us putting her down. That still hurts even to type it.
We took a little break after Sasha; our vet shared the name of a local breeder with us, and we went to see puppies. Low and behold we picked out a yellow and a black, sisters from the same litter. They are almost 2 years old now, and they are currently curled up in the bed with my lovely wife.
It had been a while since I had Labrador puppies to train, two at the same time has been a hoot to say the least.
