Here's a great rifle. A Marlin model '93 with 26" octagonal barrel in 38-55 Ballard. This rifle was manufactured in the 1890s (I was told by the previous owner) and rebarreled at some point, apparenntly a very long time ago to special smokeless steel barrel. The rifle is in wonderful condition for it's age with some case coloring left on the receiver and most of the bluing still on the barrel. The wood has no repairs, chips or cracks and appears to have it's original finish. I don't know enough about old Marlins to say how original it is, but the patina all over looks pretty old. Function is flawless, bore is crisp and shiny and it is superbly accurate. I have shot it off a bench at 100 yds and posted a 1-1/2" group with the iron sights. The only serial number I can find, on the lower tang is "806". Not sure what to make of that.
I have reloading supplies for this rifle including 200 Vollmer Precision Supreme Target 255 gr jsp, brass, dies, bullet mold for the new owner, if they want to work out a deal on that.
The values for these rifles seems to be all over the place, but in this configuration and in this condition, I'm thinking $1800 is a pretty fair place to start.
Shipping from an FFL (yeah I know, I could ship it) will be $75 to your FFL.
No interest in any trades, thank you. Payment by USPS money order.
First "I'll take it" out here, followed by PM gets the gun. Thanks
Thanks FIreball2. My wife saw the rifle a little while ago and told me to keep it. She's pretty cool - she likes the old stuff with some wear on it, which explains her attraction to my old ass. I may pull the ad tomorrow. Happy wife...

Sounds like I’d keep both if I were you - lucky man on two counts!!

That's pretty much what my research showed. It was the model 1893, starting in 1895. In 1904, the designation was changed to Model '93 and special smokeless steel barrels were used. They did make a limited run of black powder only in '05. So this Rifles serial number actually puts it at 1904 and it is all original, with the 26" octagonal Special Smokeless Steel barrel.
My wife wants to put it out with her Grannie's ancient shotgun in our log home, so I guess we're not selling for now.
