I’m looking for your guys opinion and experience. I’m wanting to put a scope on my .270 x bolt that will help me feel comfortable shooting 300-600 yards. I have never shot this distance so I’m needing help with scope choice. Then I’m hitting the range all summer. Let me know what you guys suggest. I’ve looked at some $500-$1,500 scopes. I would like to be middle of the road but will spend more if needed.

I am liking my Trijicon Credo HX for this exact application. Mine is 4-16x50 but there are a lot of options and it has good glass for the money and tracks well so far. I shoot to 600 yards with it. I’m no long range shooter but decided to start shooting out to 600 for fun and to practice. I forget the name of the reticle but it is in MOA and is super easy to figure out for that range.

Is this a hunting rifle? If so what type of hunting?
Or this a target rifle.
You want to dial a lot or BDC?
With 270 I’ll assume it’s a hunting rig. Most of my hunting rigs have 2.5/3.5-10, one has 3-12 and 3-15 is my biggest scope . I like to keep things lite. The 3-12 covers everything I need from the woods to the range. Especially once I get to 500/600 yards.

All of them do something better than the 30-06, but none of them do everything as well.

Big difference between hunting and LD at a range. I don't like the "trees" on any hunting scope and as a practical matter my hunting experience tells me that there's not a lot of dialling time or time to check wind before a shot.

For hunting anything over 12x is ridiculous as far as I'm concerned. A .270 is not generally considered optimal for long range, but of course YMMV.
