Looking for best alternative to R22 for loading my 6.5-06. Powders I have on hand are H100, H4831, hunter, retumbo, 7828, R17 and H4350. What say you?

7828. period, if it is burn speed, and velocity you want. Not so sure your cartridge demands that slow of powder though. Seeing a replacement for 22, 7828 is your man, but your cartridge tells me otherwise Once I saw your cartridge I went straight to RL17 though With an 06 I would think RL17, or 4350 would be better suited. Let us know..

Do you not like Alliant powders, or can you just not find any?
My LGS has RL-22, but I've recently been working up loads using RL-23 (also in stock). I've been favorably impressed.
But, for your cartridge choice and powder options, H4350 or H4831 would be a good place to start.

H4831SC is what I switched after dealing with temperature issues with RL22. I lost a few FPS, but the load was more stable and more accurate.

Best alternative for RL22 is VVN165, I used it in several rifles when the RL22 ran out. Using what you have depending on bullet weight I would try H1000 for the heavies H4831 for lighter bullets

I’ve quickly become a fan of Hunter, but why not work up loads with some of the powders you have and let the rifle tell you what it likes.

It's been here for a few months. At the very small town LGS every time I go in. I don't really care for RL22, so I don't buy it. You would think it would be hitting the shelves, even in your area??? How many gunshops do you check?
I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA

Among those available my first choice would be 7828. H4831 the second.

Agree with this, since you asked for non Alliant powders... I ended up purchasing some of the bad batches they had back a decade or two ago... after that I went to RL 19 and have never had an issue... have also substituted RL 23, that is suppose to be temp insensitive... it helped finding a good deal on an 8 pound jug. Its as accurate as RL 19.

Let us know.. I mostly agree. I'd really doubt that '22 is optimum in that round as well................but anyway of what you have 7828 & H4831 are closest to '22. RL-16 & RL-19 would also be good if you can find any. As for 7828 performing the same as '22, I doubt it will be as fast (IME) but in reality, it's close enough; ditto for 4831. RL-17 might be better than either & you just have to try it & see. IMO, where it works, '22 is hard to beat for velocity & accuracy. Always an exception here or there though. MM

Well, maybe if you check enough LGS, you'll find one with some dusty jugs of Norma powder. If there's a jug of Norma MRP, grab it. It's the same powder as RL22.

My old school 700 6.5-06 really likes RL 22 as well. H4831 provides acceptable accuracy although not as good as 22 H1000 the same. 7828 SSC shoots well in my 260 rem can't imagine much difference. Hogdon has reliable data for it in 6.5-06. H100v shoots well in my 260 also Ive heard it has bigger temperature issues than 22 also reliable data though. Sounds like MD had good results with Hunter in GG1 with 120 and 125's. You don't specify bullet weight. I'm wanting to try 7828 and RL 23 in the next go around.
Good luck and shoot straight y'all
