Pre-bankruptcy when the SS SPS rifles were everywhere cheap, and even cheaper used, if you knew what you were looking at you could buy the 92/93 SS/Syn MR's exceptionally reasonable. I found a 280 and a 338 for a buddy and I know he paid well under $500 each for them. Those 92/93 SS MR's have all shot really well for me too.

I can walk on water.......................but I do stagger a bit on alcohol.

Yep. The very first of the stainless synthetic mountain rifle iteration outside of the ks. Catalogued 1993, but everyone that I have owned or seen has a barrel code of M, indicating a ‘92 production.

I bought a Custom shop KS Mtn rifle in 338WM in early 91. I kinda kick my butt for ever selling it, that was maybe 6-7 yrs ago. It had the syn stock on it, appeared to be a McMillan, some other people over the years have said they were, also apparently had a 24" Hart bbl, it had the heart mark on it. Shot 5/8" out of the box with 250Partition Fed Premium factory loads, sighted it at 100, noticed I wasn't even trying hard to shoot it, was just under MOA, then bore down on it and went 5/8, it was slow though. Box said 2660, Oehler said 2440, used H4831 to get it to 2750 and still held MOA. I had something like 9 guns on the counter when I bought it, wanted the lightest 338 I could get, that was it out of the bunch. Had a blind mag, 375 length action, I checked it by putting a 375 in the mag. People that owned 7 mags and 300's that shot it, couldn't believe how soft it shot for the weight of that gun, 3-9x40 Leup on it, Weaver rings, think it was just a hair over 8lbs with the scope on. First thing shot was a muley doe, 150 yds, back of the head, 250 partition, saw red mist thru the scope, ear, pc of skin still holding an eyeball was all that was left.
